    I remember there was a registry key that you change to get the old nvidia cp show.

    But I can't find the thread :S

    If anyone knows how to do it plz post.

    I don't know if it still works with this drivers but I have nothing to lose trying.

    I have it and it works but have nowhere to place the file online, drop me a pm and I will send it to you via e-mail as a zip, it's only 1KB big.

    REGEDIT4

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\NvCplApi\Policies]
    "ContextUIPolicy"=dword:00000001
    "TaskbarUIPolicy"=dword:00000001

    ;hint: 1 = old panel, 2= new panel, 3= both panels
    Save as .reg and run it.

    I found another reg from http://www.laptopvideo2go.com
    It worked but after I hit ok I can't make it work again.

    I hope this works.

    Same thing. After I press OK then I can't get to the classic cp again.

    It shows only the link to open the new cp.

    save above as a reg file:

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\NvCplApi\Policies]
    "ContextUIPolicy"=dword:00000001
    "TaskbarUIPolicy"=dword:00000000
    "CplGroupUIPolicy"=dword:00000002

    you can try this "only classic panel"

    All 3 regs I tried work but only till I press apply or ok and close the window.

    After that it goes away it leaves me only with the new one.

    maybe nvidia is starting to code the old CP out of the new drivers. I don't know, I haven't tried to use it, just a possibility.

    I've not been able to get any old cp fix to work with this driver, so I'm just trying to get aquainted with new one here. Anyone know how to enable temp and OC without ntune though, that would be helpful :)

    I don't know if you did anything after using the reg.
    this is my way to use the reg with new driver:

    1.remove old driver totally (with driver cleaner)
    2.in safe mode install new driver then reboot
    3.after reboot finished, in normal mode use the reg
    4.check the panel

    and the most important point,
    in Tools --> Shortcut tools,
    don't remove the checkbox of "Enable desktop context menu"
    or the panel will crash

    sorry,
    because i don't have any copy of vista x32 or x64,
    so i don't know if the reg works on vista.
    If anyone try this reg on vista,
    please let me know if it works.

    Guys I had this problem too (open old CP, then close it and it disappear) and the trick for me was to install NVtray.

    if you double click the tray icon of NVTray you can then specify what CP you want to use and the settings stick.

    Yes it works also with this latest driver.

    file --> save as --> save target as : all files
    --> file name : xxx.reg
    then it should be O.K.

    unwinder (rivatuner author) has said certain features don't work properly with the old control panel and it causes people to report that they think there's a problem with rivatuner when it's actually the fact that they're using the old control panel that's the cause of their problem.

    nvidia clearly don't intend that we continue use the classic control panel so I wouldn't recommend that anyone use it unless they absolutely have to (eg maybe a feature broken in new panel that still works in old)

    They also want you to use nTune... go on and good luck.

    Hmmm. Maybe it doesn't show because I disable the "Enable desktop context menu". I will try it when I get at work.

    Yeah I know mate. Only reason I need it is to lock the refresh rate with coolbits 2.0.

    P.S: I don't need it for my PC. I need it for PC's at work (Internet Cafe). They have Win XP Pro SP2
