    Hi all.

As I've been a lurker for many a year on Guru3D I thought I would register as I'm completely stumped with a problem my son is having on his system.

He's recently upgraded to Windows 7 and has been running his system on XP64 for over 6 months with no problems so I feel it's a driver issue rather than a hardware issue.

    The system -

    Pailit 4870 (1mb)
    Windows 7 Ultimate (64)
    MSI Z68S-G43 motherboard
    Intel I5 CPU
    4GB DD3
Asus 20 inch widescreen monitor - native 1600x900

    The problem -

At 1600x900 the windows desktop is fine with all screen proportions and focus correct. When he launches any game and sets it to the native resolution (1600x900) all the text is blurred and the bottom 3/4 of an inch drops off the bottom of the screen (Stretched vertically) although the top is okay. When he alt tabs out of the game to desktop the desktop is now expanded and the task bar dropped off the bottom of the screen as well as the text being blurry.

He's installed the latest Catalyst, uninstalled them, cleaned the files and installed catalyst 11.3 but everythings still the same. I feel that it may be a frequency problem as the monitor is designed to run at 60 but it's set at that in CCC so my hunch may be incorrect.

Any help would be much appreciated as this one has me stumped.

Cheers guys and all the best for the New Year.

Some games also let you chose both resolution and aspect ratio separately, you may want to check that.

Also check the monitor to see if it has any scaling options and turn them off. Then check CCC for the same.
