Just got this combo, overall works fine except for one thing. Refuses to work with 4 dimms at more than 3000MHz, which is a bummer cause that's what I had. On 2 dimms all good they work at 3600 cl16 gear 1, same timings as my old z390 in fact with even better transfer rates. I don't want to send it back just for this so I suppose I'll sell the 4 memory sticks and get a 2x16GB. CPU OC nothing fancy, 5.4GHz all core and 1.290v about 190W in cinebench and 90C on a 39e slim cooler. In games sits at 55-60C and max 75W. Gain from 9900k @ 4.9Ghz? 0 .. plain feckin 0 lol, same fps in forza 5 using 4k. Granted on cpu render/sim the 13600kf is much faster but since 9900k was able to render about 160+ then there is no gain if I'm capped at 140 @ 4k. I suppose I was just bored and wanted to try a new platform, with minimum upgrade. I also got all of them on a deal, mobo for 199e, cpu for 320e, cooler for 39e.
I have a Msi z690 Tomahawk wifi ddr4, With the latest bios 4 x 16gb @ 3600, 16,18,18 works ok for me, older ones not!
Update: Works with 4 dimms with a trick, save the profile with 2 dimms then add the other 2 and leave it untouched. If I change any setting goes to training again and fails. All good then no dissapointment. One note though, it has better transfer in aida using 2 x dimms than 4x dimms, 60k vs 56k read.
And this is forza bench, basically same fps as 9900k, since I will never go over what the cpu can deliver in 4k, up to 140fps cap. Granted, the cpu render is much higher on 13600, so one can only hope for 240Hz 4k, and possibly a rtx 5080 or amd 8900xt.
That tells us you are GPU bound in that game. Drop down to 1080p and you probably will see a bigger difference.
I don't mean for you to drop the resolution but you can TEST to see if you are really GPU or CPU bound with X game and Y resolution and think of your next upgrade if you play that game a LOT, like almost living in it or if you're streaming it for $. I did the same test on ARMA (my poker game) at 1080p, I am at 90 FPS. At 4K I am still over 60 FPS depending on the terrain, same GPU in my description.
Ok so far runs at 5.4GHz P, 4.1 E LLC 1 out of 8 (lowest compensation) 1.350v bios and 1.285v vcore line reported in cinebench 200W load. 9800 +/- cinebench 20 score 90C @ 200W with this chinese 120mm cooler IDcooling 226xt cost 39euro 50-60C in games
