Do the newer drivers from Nvidia make the 1080TI suffer or do they make it better? I feel that when i keep the card up to date driver wise i have felt that the last 3-4 months have shaved some FPS from the games? Is this just me or is this actually happening?

What drivers is making the best performance on these older cards?

    Hello
this is a conspiracy theory, in some cases drivers can reduce performance, you need to based you opnion on alot of software, not just 1 or 2 games, overall the 1080ti is a great GPU and is ageing very well.

    cheers

it depend on what you believe. I play only PUBG and i see there is no significant different (5% margin) in term of PUBG performance in 1080ti with new and old drivers. Moreover, I think that new driver is better bz it provide new functions like shapening ... it make pubg more clear and vibrance visuality.

    Hi,

I'm on a mediocre GTX 1060 6G and was informed 442.59 and 446.14 are best for this GPU.
All depends on your total PC, so many subjects that are different for everyone around.
Yesterday I installed the latest hotfix 461.33 and now this one is keepers for me.
All is base don trial and error, much is to try out. I'm not of Benckmarking though, a certian "feel" with drivers is what I aim at.
Yes, I'm no Pro by any means, but if it feels right... :)

    Best regards.

I'm also using a used 1060 6gb for a couple years now but have been using nvidia cards for a long time now and have always used the current driver as they came out. Never had an issue with them just have to adjust the settings per game. But I also only game @ 1080p on a 50in plasma. Sometimes I think people have issues because of overclocking or incorrect bios settings. I'm no expert and usually play games after they have been out for a while so the bugs are worked out.

I do not support conspiracy theories but certainly in the last 1.5 years I believe a little the maturity of the driver of Amd and a bit of nerf from Nvidia have brought the 1080ti in a strange position at least compared to the 5700xt,if I remember correctly the 1080ti was 25 to 30% faster but the numbers have changed completely and it makes a special impression on me that the 11gb of memory in 4k loses from the 8gb,for example I will put numbers from vulcan, dx12 and dx11 for the name of God not to be misunderstood I do not say that it loses in everything but the difference now of the 2 cards is very small Screenshot 2021-01-21 201623.png Screenshot 2021-01-21 201643.png Screenshot 2021-01-21 201734.png Screenshot 2021-01-21 201803.png Screenshot 2021-01-21 201855.png
also the model Lightning X if it is not the fastest it is definitely one of the 3 fastest

Doom is not vram capacity dependant, the 5700XT is as powerful as the 1080ti with framebuffer size out of the equation (and not held back by poory dx11 support)

Even the 1080ti so called the "anomally" is getting the same treatment as the other nvidia cards. Its a great card card no doubt but as nvidia tends to leave older gen behind its no surprising. It was the same peformance as rtx2080 when turing was released.

    not really.
    https://www.techpowerup.com/review/nvidia-geforce-rtx-2080-founders-edition/33.html

there are some vulkan/dx12 games where pascal shows bigger gap to newer turing/rdna,but overall there's nothing going in late 2020/early 2021 overall performance charts that would suggest it's getting some sort of decrease in performance.turing is really a step over pascal architecturally and it's been starting to show more and more.

it was always pretty much same as 2070S overall and there's no change.it was always slower than turing in games that utilize fp+int since it does not have it.it's not like it started being slower in doom or rdr2 this month.it's been like that since day 1.

Well, nothing new. All past generations NVidia cards are always put back. No significative optimizations or bug fixes and we see a small drop of performance over the months...

AMD drivers starts slow, with some significant bugs from start and performance penalties, but drivers mature well and old cards gain significant performance over time.

I think the 3 factors that put AMD behind actually is: 1) Lack of DLSS, 2) Poor Raytracing performance and 3) Price is too high to gain market share.

I have a GTX 1070 and I have no problems with newer driver whatsoever. Runs smooth and stable.

Great card by the way, still runs most games just fine @1440p.

Looking at the above benchmarks Vega56 that was competiting with your 1070 is now faster than a 1080. I know its a good card but do you see how it fall behind?

dec/jan gpu roundups,1080=V64 in both.as has always been the case.
v56 is 7-8% faster than 1070,that means it's about the same or slower than 1070ti,the card it was actually stacked up against.1080 is 15-17% faster.

It got faster no doubt especially in vulkan/dx12 games. Pascal didnt...

vega would trounce pascal in d3d11 as well if the driver overhead wasn't a factor.

to buy a v56 and expect it's gonna be faster than a 1080 is red lunacy
no gpu summary shows it's anywhere else in the stack than where it's been at launch.rivalling 1070Ti.

I too think Vega, for what it offered hardware-wise,is largely underused. It trounces Pascal in specs only,if you had a v56 and 1070ti in your home rigs you would never tell a difference. But amd's drivers were never on the same level as their hardware. They had to make a 13tf hbm2 card to match nvidia's gp104.I think they knew they can't continue doing that in the long run, hence rdna

kinda interesting card tbh if it had better support.I'd buy a LC V64 were it available at decent prices to play with it for fun.
