Well, there really is a god. And its name is Rivatuner. I downloaded the program wednesday on my old cabin computer (Athlon XP 3000, 768MB DDR1) I had recently upgraded it with a 128MB 6800 XT. Using Rivatuner, I unlocked 4 pipelines, 2 Vertex Shaders, and was able to maintain a stable 11% overclock core, 14% memory (Fan speeds were turned up 5%). My 3dMark05 score jumped from an unimpressive 2452 to 3421! (Both these scores were achieved using performance driver settings). I immediately downloaded it on my home desktop (P4 3.0, 2.5GB DDR2, 256MB 6800). I was able to unlock 4 pipelines and one vertex shader, and maintain a 9% overclock. My score jumped from 4282 to 5096! Now, I'm going to start a Rivatuner based religion. This program deserves to be worshiped.;)

Ahh, the joy of unlocking pipes :). I felt a similar joy back when I did it with my x800gto².

Not sure. If it's the r480 core I don't see why not as long as they aren't disabled through hardware by the manufacturer. I'd ask some other people that have it. You can't do it through RivaTuner on the x800gto² by the way, it's through bios flashing.

Rivatuner is quite a nice program. I remember when I was working with it to do my 9800 pro to FireGL X2, but ended up just modifying the drivers myself. As for overclocking and such, that is what I normally use to test overclocks and watch temperatures and such. But when all is said and done, I usually use RadLinker to set permanent overclocks, back when I did run and overclocked system...

What did you use to varify that the pipes weren't damaged?
I tried it with my 6800GS to unlock the pipes. Then ran ATITool 0.25 and sure enough they were bad. I didn't try anything else, like 3DMark or a game, I just said screw it and cut my loses and relocked the pipes.

The X800GTO2 modding is going away. New batches of those cards have a blue PCB (it was red) and it doesn't require power from your PSU (that indicates a less powerful GPU is being used). Those are unmoddable and are flooding some computer stores in the entire world.

Rivatuner is a god-sent program. Back when I had my MX4000 (useless card), it let me OC it and tweak the drivers a bit. I almost doubled its memory bandwidth from OCing and it was running games like HL2 and farcry without much problems on low settings. It was a great card, useless but great.

Also the 6800GSs' GPU comes with 12 physical pixel shaders, nothing to unlock. Dunno about the vertex shaders.

How do you find out which cards have unlockable pipes & such?
    BFG 6600GT OC?

The PCIE version, yes. The AGP version is possible to unlock.

Nothing to unlock. 8 physical pixel shaders. 4 physical vertex shaders.

I find out nothing. I just remember which cards are unlockable just 'cause I read their reviews in the past, also the rivatuner forum is full of that info. :)

Is it an NV40 core, right?

Yes it is. The PCIE version uses the NV42 I believe.

I get 515/1200 clock speeds with my 12 Pipeline 6800GS with stock cooling.

You sure about those specs? The discribed card must have gone FAR past 100 degrees during peak load.

He is talking about the PCI-E version - check his motherboard.

PCI-E version overclocks are not comparable at all to the AGP version's overclock, as the PCI-E verion is produced on a smaller process (0.11 micron) and is a totally different GPU.
