About a week ago I updated my windows to the latest "update" and I've seen some problems... I don't know if it's windows or my GPU.

Here is a video so you can get somewhat of a scope...
From what I can tell every time I click on an application, like for example a game, or chrome, the GPU usage of that application skyrockets.
While I was testing this, I opened the least graphical intensive game I have... Minecraft... and as you can see it used up a lot of the GPU and I only got 10 fps, before this I got around 300

If anyone can help me I would appreciate it.

Sounds like a crypto currency mining virus/Trojan could be installed on your machine, these things can be difficult to track down, but make sure you run a full system scan with Malwarebytes.

No reason why those applications should be using that kind of GPU power.

Why is Java running all the time?
As anxious_f0x mentioned, potentially can be related to CryoptoScum....

    Try running - OS Armor

i would check gpuz to see what the clocks are, if they are really low its not hard to hit 100%

Maybe I don't know something, but Minecraft runs on Java?

I would check to see if the GPU drivers are installed.
If you're software emulating the GPU, "Standard VGA" in the Device Manager, then there is a good chance that is why everything is putting the GPU to 100%. Its all running on the CPU, and not the GPU.

also, the Vid is only 360p, i can barely see what is written ;)

Could you give this Microsoft tool a go; Autoruns And go through the list and see if anything out of the ordinary or expected is running.

Hey it worked for me. There were times when my gpu and fan speed would instantly shoot to 100% for no reason at all, and I wasn't even gaming. Since then I've stuck with EVGA Precision XOC with zero problems.

Live and learn I guess.... never imagined them to STILL use Java. I mean what the actual HECK, they have so much cash at this point to develop their own separate engine.

microsoft is trying, they've made the Minecraft "windows 10 edition", which is basically the mobile version which is written in C, pretty sure they are gonna try to kill the java version sooner rather than later , lol.

Yup the Win 10 version runs significantly better has almost 6-7 times the draw distance not to mention supports MSAA. The only reason people are holding on dearly to the Java edition is cause it's easy to mod it.

As soon as I uninstalled MSI afterburner, it fixed everything. Thanks!

Glad I could help. I love MSI hardware, my current and previous mainboards were MSI and they are great. There's just something about afterburner that just isn't right.

Wth, thats super strange. I've used MSI AB for years without any issue whatsoever.
Indeed Unwinder will be interested in reading about this.

Please no need to spam me with PMs related to someone’s inability to configure RTSS. Any EVGA/Sapphire/ASUS or other non-MSI card owner thinking that it is smart idea to send me PMs like "you should stand behind your faulty product" will simply get into my ignores like jbscotchman. For the rest there is MSI techsupport. I stopped directly supporting software in the forums to avoid dealing with endless PEBCAK issues, and it doesn't mean that all that nonsense needs to be redirected to my PMs now. Thanks for understanding.
