All the useless software that's being given away..... Most of it is from companies I've never heard of.

Grabbed AVG for a co-worker who's computer I spent a bit of time cleaning up the last couple days. He was running Avast, but it failed miserably. Not the fault of Avast though. User ignorance was just too strong.

I tried to get PowerISO 6 earlier, but there was some issue they were trying to get sorted. Nice that it's working now.

What's the verdict on WinOptimizer? I haven't used any Ashampoo software in several years.

I steer clear of those so called 'optimizer' programs, normally end up doing more harm than good, end up with some weird issue you have no idea how to fix because it did something behind the scenes without showing you exactly what

If I want to tweak something, I`ll do it manually, then I know what I did if it goes wrong

That said, I ended up with a weird issue on my work laptop a while back, I had no audio anywhere within Windows, but perfect audio from the browser, youtube etc

Tried absolutely everything I could to repair it, last ditch attempt before wiping I ran registry mechanic, and amazingly it worked

But that is the one and only time they've ever done any good for me

Weird issues.... You mean like the Folding@Home client refusing to launch for no known reason? I can launch the F@H service, but that's CPU only and won't run on GPU, which is what I use for folding. I've been running Win10 as my "daily driver" on my desktop because my Win8 install has become unstable since running Auslogics's Boost Speed software.

Yup, weird issues exactly like that, also learned the hard way some time ago, and refuse to install any software like that now

I'm questioning whether or not I should install O&O Defrag at the moment.....

I've been defragging like crazy back in the days, but now I just leave windows8.1 to do it with build-in HDD Defrag or Trim SSD and they're always @ 0%..

No game so far lagged because of fragmentation and Im installing them all at 1tb sata2 and 500gb sata2.:)

My desktop sees the harddrive as an SSD due to Intel's SRT using my 64GB M4 as a cache drive. My laptop, however, uses a 500GB Seagate Hybrid drive. Not really sure how much an impact Defragging really has on the drive. It performs rather well for being a laptop drive. Not really sure I want to risk performance issues either way. Since setting it up a couple weeks ago, I've just let Windows manage things. I usually use Auslogics Disk Defrag Free, but after all the issues that Auslogics Boost Speed caused, I'm not sure how much I'm willing to trust 3rd party utilities anymore. I still use Revo Uninstaller though, since I've never had a bit of trouble from using it.
