    aren't you guys talking about when the core and memory is not sitting at idle, but seems to be running at full power at the desktop?

    no, we're talking about the GPU being stuck at 99% usage.. causing horrible slowdowns when getting back to desktop after a game, while alt-tabbing, or simple pressing CONTROL + ALT + DEL.

    speaking of weird bugs...
    I think the flash firmware update they gave me just made things worse..
    before the flashing.

    the States were (on a 5870 stock from sapphire)
    2d: 157Mhz
    2d for 2 monitors = 400Mhz
    full 3d: 850Mhz

    now...:
    2d = 400Mhz
    2 monitors = 850Mhz-400Mhz????
    mid-step = 600 Mhz (when rendering 3d in firefox, videos..etc..before it rendered all in 400Mhz mode)
    full 3d: 850Mhz

    Memory:
    before:
    idle = 300
    idle 2 monitors = 1200Mhz
    full 3d: 1200Mhz

    now:
    idle = 300Mhz
    Idle 2 monitors =1200Mhz
    youtube rendering = 1200Mhz

    as you see, the weird part is how the gpu goes to 600Mhz to "render 3d" and not the usual 400Mhz (of avivo)

    Any updates on a solution to this problem? I am now getting this problem multiple times a day...so much so that I had to start ignoring it and just working with it. It keeps coming back all the time.

    Arent the 570s suffering from VRM issues too?
    I'm interested to know if this has been fixed with current releases.

    Edit:
    As posted in another thread by Eastcoasthandle

    Looks like its still a current issue.

    I'm getting a non-reference GTX570 SLI. If they release a non-reference GTX590 with fixed VRMs soon, then I'll probably go for that instead.
