You really need to upgrade to Windows 10-11, I have no problems with either of those operating systems, just do a clean install though.

Most new PC chassis have now eliminated CD/DVD drive cages, I use an external drive now that's plugged into a USB port when I need it.
Never had much luck with Gigabyte motherboards, they would last about 2 1/2 years tops before they would die. I use ASUS now.
