You should be able to plug the one into the card straight from the PSU.
The ATi 9800 XT doesn't even compare to any of the 6800 series. So yes, a MAJOR upgrade. You will love it =)

I had this same problem but it went back to normal after a restart.
I am using 66.81 drivers with a 6800GT.
I am using the 66.81s for my eVGA 6800GT and they rock. All the other drivers caused my computer to lock up at some points and get TERRIBLE...
Some gay told me my Raidmax 420w PSU wouldnt run my system.
