    is this safe?

    Use HCI memtest (use google). Memtest86 isn't best for a64 memcontroller. It often passes but you can't even boot to win.

    "Extra" pipes can't be unlocked, because there's no more pipes physically in the core. Normal (core 425mhz) is quite equal to GT, so XFX's one...

    6800GT in to a Ultra ?

    Why flash, just increase clocks. (okay, ultra has also much better current-sourcing so it's impossible to make gt to ultra)
