For anyone interested, it was the cpu. Replaced and now all is well (Y)
Removed graphics card, plugged in tv to hdmi port on motherboard (using onboard). Still reboots at splash screen. Motherboard faulty?
Another update: tried another PSU, same problem still exists, rebooting once it hits 'starting windows' splash screen. Gonna try another vid...
Another update. PC rebooted again, even with C-states disabled. Think the first time I tried it I just got lucky (have set them back to auto)....
