Propably your mobo does not allow to your card to get higher, check your voltage in the BIOS and the AGP frequency (66Mhz default) also check your...
The only thing I'm sure about is that the maximum performance of the thermal paste enhanced approximatelly after 200 hours, this includes CPUs.
What drivers do u use? Try installing the last official 71.89 they have bugfixes for temps.
With my NVs5 my 6800Ultra fell from 58 idle to 46 and...
About 1 month, I have a CM Stacker case with 2 fans/front 1/rear 1/top 3/back a total of 7 fans (3 of them are 120mm and the rest 4 80mm)
48 idle and 60 full load on a GT??? :eek:
I have the NVS5 rev.2 it doesn't split oils (!) no noise
and the best, got my 6800ULTRA (not GT)

My temps goes from 58-60 idle to 46-50 and full load from 78 to 58!! :D :D :D

Unfortunatelly your case is too short to take up to 2 PSUs.
As you can see mine has already 2 PSUs simply because it's huge!
The first PSU must be plugged onto the mobo and from the second one we have to attach only the black and green cables so on every reboot...

What do you mean with "external"?? It must receive power for itself from 1 different molex (2 for better results) if that's what you mean.
My 6800Ultra had 1.5v by default! Except if this is Bios's choice..!
