The bottom index and title are wrong: page 7 says fullHD but is 1600x1200, page 8 says WQHD & UHD but is 1920x1080 and 2560x1440. No UHD.
Brute force and power consumption of Crossfire/SLI, but without the problems of a multiGPU configuration.

There are already videocards with vapor chamber. GK110 (Titan/780-ti) cooler is one example, and I don´t think this technology is efficient enough...

The GTX 970 and 980 can compete very well against R9 290 and 290x. If you see the specs (256 bit vs 512 bits bus), that may have been surprising....
Another option: disconnect the power LED cable. I did that with my Zotac 970 AMP! extreme.
But then, G-Sync comes to save you.
