Try AMD Overdrive for your CPU. It's overclocking for your CPU within Windows.
And it's not only C2D, I have the same problem with my AMD X2 4200+.
It was smooth with my AMD64 3000+.
And AMD Optimizer doesn't help.
I tried them with my Sapphire 1950 Pro AGP, but that was useless. No 3D functions whatsoever.
I tried 3DMark 03 but after a lot of pop-up boxes...
I tried SP1 RTM for a week or so, and I found very little improvement performance-wise. But that could be because I've got only 1 GB of RAM.
