you're best bet is just to replace the cooling full stop - the stock heatsink is adequate when turned up but it also sounds like a leaf blower.
GPU Temp #2 is the VRM temperature not the gpu temp
as far as you're low idle temp i think you have a calibration problem on the card...
the GT will be faster for sure and is a better single card solution imho
but 2x3870 in xfire is just very appealing to me, if nforce chipset...

at your res you have all the power you need
even at 1600x1200 the 256 GTX in SLI is plenty and is probably what i will go for as i game in...
not all games are as cpu bottlenecked as 3dmark05 ...theres a decent benefit in fear/cod2 and most recent titles for a 512mb GTX in SLI.

i have 2 6800GT's right now but am looking to upgrade.....yes they're still pretty strong but i game in 1680x1050...
look at the price of the only crossfire board worth getting
these drivers are pretty fubar for me
i get weird desktop trouble where the mouse icon has trouble keeping up ie ....if i move cursor fast...
have you tried the 67.03 like i suggested??? these are no flicker for me on the 2005fpw in 1680x1050.
maybe you aren't removing your old...
I have the same monitor using 67.03's on my 2 6800 GT's and i don't get any flickering.
