I really want to build my own PC. Say if I have about $1500 to play with, is there a system I can build that is that much better than my current one?

Basically, I would want a AMD-64 3400+ (At least), a 6800Ultra or GT, and maybe 2 gigs of RAM. Speakers, monitor, and soundcard I would keep from my current system.

Now I am a college student, so its not like I just have money to waste :D But if I would see some nice improvements, I will go for it.

    Thanks

I dont think that the upgrade is worth it for that kind of money. You can upgrade selected things in your system, but I dont think you need to get a whole new system. Maybe upgrade the video card or the motherboard so you can overclock and youll be set, and that will be a lot cheaper than a whole new system.

Your system is really good right now, and it would be kinda a waste to spend $1500 for a very little speed boost.

Yea man, I would only upgrade your video card if your just dead-set on spending money. And thats only if your really into games. Otherwise your computer stills rockin hard.

Please wait until Athlon 64 3000+ (a new line of socket 939) is coming.

I think you'll be amazed by the efficiency of socket 939 structure......:)

Get yourself a 6800gt. It's about 20% of the cost of the upgrade you're looking at and it's twice as fast as the card you're using now. I switched from a 5950u.

Although, you don't even really need that.
