Well yea but such a sim could also be used for really good experementation and scenarios such as avoiding swerving cars or a jack-knifing lorry or getting away from a criminal in a highspeed drive on a highway.

(Likes the thought of going straight underneath the gap in the trailer in a small sports car).

All those armchair pilots that play flight-sims should get licences too then.......

Driver 3 aint bad, but I've only played it on PS2. Another gppd one is an old game called 1nsane (Insane). Its an off road sim with some of the best vehicle physics that Ive played

LOL, yeah, the graphics are so photo-realistic, you could almost believe you were really hovering 100 feet above the car your "driving".

You see the point though? Not all of us can achieve our goals of what we want to do so the best (and usually safest thing to do is simulate it.)

As for "Gene Rally" Doh! looks like a racing game to me.

Whats GTR like in terms of realism?

Like damage, handling and the sense of speed.
Remember I want to feel as if Im physically driving the car not pretending I can with faked physics.

Still looks like another racing game to me, But Im looking at some previews for it at the mo and it looks quite promising.....

I just downloaded the MP demo. The single player demo isn't out yet, but you can drive the tracks in Lan mode.

Anyway, this may be the the best Rally game I've played. Here's a link to the demo.

    Xpand Rally

I tried this sim a while ago and its bursting with potential.

Richard Burns Rally was supposed to be really realistic but I have been looking at the reviews and most of them are giving it bad press. Kind of like what happened to driv3r then..... Majorly hyped up and failed miserably in all area's.

although not cars (trucks/haulage) the NEW '18 wheels of steel pedal to the metal' is about as close your gonna get at the mo.personally i think it's great.got the full version and have been playing for a couple of days now.you got to stop at lights, indicate, manual turn on wipers (real time dynamic weather),call out for weather/traffic reports, take rest stops (fatigue meter),follow road signs etc... awesome game.just about the whole of america/canada is mapped.graphics not to shoddy for a game of this scope either.:) i'll post some in game screenies in a bit.

D'loading the demo at the mo. its at 55%. The last one I tried was just called 18 Wheels of steel.

Hard truck 2: King of the road was better though cos you could drive cars and lorries. But the sense of scale in regards to the scenery and the poorly rendered video clips lets it down.

Doh and as of writing this bit the Server Reset! Got to start again :(

    Lucky I have Broadband :)

Right I have tried 18 Wos Pedal to the metal.

    1) The physics have been improved over the last couple of ones.

    2) The physics still are not that good.

    3) Can only drive big lorries.

I want something with a huge environment similar to this but be able to drive cars on it as well as being able to drive huge lorries too. I wonder if there is somekind of hack to do it. After I have played Xpand rally Sp demo I will see what I can come up with.

Just had a look at one of the Scs files and if you change it into a zip file you can change some of the things around. Just having a tweak around inside it at the mo. If I get a breakthrough I will post some screenies up.
