Catalyst 4.9 BETA for Doom 3 OUT

I think it was a good step from ATI Gooooood

 

Does this work with my card. I installed it and i got a blue screen when restarting saying software / hard ware not workin or something. I dont no what happend ? I just installd 4.8 thos work great.

 

It should work with your card, i dont see why not...

Either way, Im very satisfied with these drivers and the tweaks...

So far I been running 1024x768 medium settings at a constant 65-70fps, with a 45 minumum...

I decided to try 1280x1024 Ultra with everything maxed, already going in thinking that i would get like maybe 5fps to find that I am running a very stable 45-50fps and 25 min.... (with the occasional few seconds of 80-90fps) gotta love those...

Got me alittle hesitant on the next system i planned on building....

O well, probably gonna end up building it anyways....

A really nice job by ati.One month ago with the 4.3 my aquamark score was 22536 now after i installed this drivers i got a 25847.A huge improvement and my KOTOR runs really smooth,now off to try Doom3,the damn game freezes just like that at 800x600 with medium details.Can´t wait to try them!

 

I use the recent Omega ATI drivers. I wonder if Omega will update his tweaked drivers to match the newer 4.9 Catalyst Drivers soon. Or will he wait for the 4.9's to be officially released? hmmmm?

 

Well i´m using 4.7 at 1024x768 medium quality and 2x AA and getting betwen 25 to 40 fps. However i´m not able to activate AF on control panel has the game reduces to 800x600 if i turn it on. i´m not complaining about the fps of the game but the quality of image is not the beter. I´l try the 4.9 just to see if the images gets better and if i´m able to play at high settings

4.8 are the fastest

 

best thing right now is have the 4.8 cats with the 4.9 opengl motor. It's not too complicated to do that, and I think DNA's or Omega or one of those have them packed up that way right now.

 

Both the latest Omega and DNA are based on D3D form 4.8 and OpenGL from the 4.9beta ones.

Would these drivers work for unreal tournament 2004?

 

New 4.9's are due soon. The Inquirer said the 2nd of September but I would't hold my breath. Rage3D is having an IRC chat session with ATI on September 9th to discuss a new innovation in driver technology. Hard to decide if they'll release the new driver before or after the chat. The 4.9's are suppose to include official support for Doom3. As for official Cat's vs. 3rd party optimized drivers, the 3rd party drivers are optimized by reduceing the level of detail down slightly. It might not be that noticable but thats the only way they make them faster than the official ones, at least that's what CatalystMaker himself said.

 

It's the 6th and the full 4.9 still aren't out...
