  3. looks sweet. that thing better come bundled free with hl2 to make up for all the delays.

That would be an awesome addition. I'd play though Half-Life again (after HL2) if it was put in the HL2 Source engine.

looks the bloody same except the second picture is just brightened up a bit and someone has coloured in the water.

omg how can you say that looks like? Nothings hardly changed except for the brightness and water. If that is what Gabe Newell said, he should have put up a better screenshot to do the game justice.

If you would actually read, you'd see that it's not getting a complete overhaul, that the noticeable changes would include the physics, shaders, and dynamic lights and shadows.

Well what I was trying to say was, they should have showed a screenshot that actualy shows a shadow or some of the noticeable changes you metioned, on that one the only big change I see s in the water.

I like what they did on the water...... if they do something about the walls it would be great !!!!

Looks ugly -- I don't see much improvement except the water. I hope that this is not the end product.

Well considering they didn't alter the textures in that screenshot for the port of HL, I would assume the all new textures they created for HL2 will look a little better, considering they aren't borrowed for a 6 year old game. ;)

I was thinking the same thing. None of the textures appear to be resampled either.

the idea of hl:source isnt to redo the original game, its simply to add in some physics, lighting (hence it being brighter) along with shadows and a few shader effects such as the water shown.

i dont see why people are moaning that half life 1 hasnt been redone with uber graphics when hl2 isnt finished yet lol

i think the water would look a lot better in motion, the water in source looks very realistic to me, in the shots ive seen.
