I think there will be a good improvement, maybe not great, but definitely a good one.

i hope you are right,i wonder maybe Unwinder could let us know if he saw an increase in his cards performance?

dont need numbers just either a big YES or a little yes would be great :)

Of course I saw no performance increase at all. Everybody know that extra pipelines are absolutely useless and NV/ATI increase pipeline number in new chips just for fun...

P.S. Stupid question = stupid answer

    ban?

did you read the 2 other posts before my post above?

i asked if the 128meg of ddr ram will bottleneck the 6800 once the 4 other pipes are active? i didnt think this was a stupid question at all... but if thats a banable question carry on .

maybe i should just stick to posting smilies..

heys ppl...since nobody asks, i have to say i'm a little curious....Unwinder, can u fill us in on some details on your progress and problems so far? i'm talking about what kind of problems are u facing with all the different bios from the different card makers, and if, from what u have seen, the majority of the cards have the 4 extra pipes funcional or not?
    greets all,
keep up the excellent work Unwinder :)

No problems, just collecting statistics. Currently we've seen 4 6800NU's wich can work in 16 pipeline mode, from about 10 tested boards. So success rate is rather low.

No, they are not the same brands and modability doesn't depend on this factor. And no, we've not tried EVGA.

thanks alot unwinder, appreciate your replies.

    last question :)

is it realistic to assume we'll see a release before the end of this month ?

if you need someone else to test enabling the pipes to get more statistics on the success rate let me know.

I dunno, a 40% success rate sounds good to me?

I'd be happy to contribute in testing, as well, although I will be out of town next week.

Am I understanding you right in that you have the mod working at the moment, and it's just a matter of determining if there is any way to predict success?

Well 40 % sounds good to me. I hope I will have luck with my sparkle 6800.
Anyway, keep the good work Unwinder :)

    Actual Benefits

Obviously there will be benefits, but How much of an increase is actually seen? I want to see some numbers. Anyone?
Specifically at Higher resolutions. But all ranges would be nice too ;)

If you want to compare the difference between having 12 pipes versus 16, just overclock your 6800 NU to GT/Ultra speeds, and compare results to the published benchmarks... no need to bother Unwinder with that...
