I got my copy at best buy on saturday also...
the game is pretty nice.. better scares than any movie Ive ever seen.....
BUT its still a pretty hollow shooter under all the glam...
performance wise can run High at 16x12 with 4x AA on no sweat no drop in FPS very pretty... havent tried Ultra yet as I wanted very smooth gameplay at high res.

Oddly enough, I'm able to run the game in "High" mode at 800 x 600, on my FX 5200. My AGP aperature is set at 128, and my FX is 128MB, so I suppose that equates to 256MB, which is what High mode needs. No substancial slowdowns...just a bit when I'm in a big firefight, but walking around and sightseeing, it stays in the mid 20's to the high 40's, depending on what I look at, etc. Runs well, looks great, I'm happy:D

    Bull****,
    tweaked out p4 3.0 @ 3.5, x800xt pe, 2G of ram
the game drops below 30 sometimes in ultra @1280x (everything else max, no AA).

Yours should drop 20's or teens. Maybe you haven't gotten to some really busy maps/places yet.

just for fun, i loaded up the game on my laptop
    Laptop:
    Dell 8500 series
    Windows XP SP1, DX9.0b
    40GB Hdd (5400rpm)
    512MB DDR266
    Dell Geforce 4200 Go 64MB (det. 44.78)

    settings:
    640x480 - low quality
high quality special effects off, everything else (shadows, bump map, etc) ON

it atcually ran WELL! around 30fps constant. can dip into the 20s, but still seems VERY playable. :) at least i know i can go on the road and still get my doom3 fix now :D YAY for id!

I use 1024x768 Medium quality with 2x AA. What hardocp said about not being able to notice aliased lines.. well,.. I can notice them a lot, but maybe that's just me. Anyone else able to easily notice them?

I'm running it at 800X600 on High Quality with 4XAA and no AF, averaging 45-50fps. 60fps in narrow corridors and 35 in very busy places.

    My Specs:

    2.8GHZ HT
    1 Gig DDR
    ATi Radeon 9800 Pro
