It's a bit funny you posted this in the ATI section, since no current ATI hardware can run pixel shaders 3.0 :p. Those are screenshots of the Unr3al 3ngin3 running on a 6800 Ultra.

Is it me or do they look a tad.....crappy?

Especially the outside screenshot, looks more like a UT2004 onslaught map.

The picture always ruins the real quality of graphics engine.
Just look at the Doom3 pix and run a Alpha and you'll se that alpha is much nicer in motion then still image. Here is the same. If you'd see this in motion you'd be probably picking up your tongue under your desk :p

  7. Honestly, from all the articles I've read it seems like ps3.0 is just hype. I've read that there's no noticeable difference and that the farcry ps3.0 demo was compared to farcry running on ps1 and that farcry ps3.0 looks the same as farcry ps2.0. With the only biggest new thing ps3.0 can do is render faster. And besides it's nvidia, don't they like to rush things into their cards. Didn't the first nvidia cards supporting ps2.0 run like crap in ps2.0 games. Aren't ps2.0 cards still going to be able to run ps3.0 games only a little bit slower?

Whens unreal 3 released i havent been looking into it latley. And as for the PS3.0 i dont see anything wrong with it rendering faster than 2.0 more speed is never a bad thing :D

I remember running out and paying loads for a card when AA first came out.
Problem was it completely crippled the speed and was pretty much useless.

One of the reasons i brought an X800 is because its fast...so it does what it says on the tin.
Who knows how new technology will develop.

The image quality of the engine is possible because of ps3.0. We're not talking about performance, we're talking about visual features. Farcry WAS a game developed with ps2.0 in mind. Whatever improvement comes from ps3.0 is just a bone of what's to come :D

If it's running on a 6800 then it must be screaming along at 2 fps. If anyone is fooled into thinking they will be playing unreal 3 on any of today's cards, well they're just that, fooled.

A 6800Ultra would crawl through Unreal 3. The game won't even be out till late 2006.

Developers and that have said 1gig of memory on video cards, won't be uncomon, to run the game maxed out.
