TNT Velocity 4400 First ever Nvidia card with Dell XPSR 450
Voodoo 5 5500 (Not more than 2 days, had problems installing card in case (Dell XPSR 450) due to power connector interfering with support bracket).
And finally Creative Labs Annihilator 2 Ge-Force 2 GTS (Current card).
Not sure about upgrade yet!. Using Linux as well as XP Pro and I need something that will work with both OSs'.

    Vodoo 2 12 mb
    tnt 2
    gforce2 mx
    geforce 2 ultra 64mb

all this card in just 2 month.. xD

    gforcefx5200
    gforcefx5600xt
    radeon 9800se
    gforcefx 5900xt

Firsth, the fx5200.. so bad that exchanged it back... then, i bough a 5600ultra, but, the shop gived me a 5600xt, so i decided to give it back and save some more money to a better card (as the 5600 was CRAP, so i suposed the ultra to be +- the same .. :p ) then i went to gurus3d forum, and sow a lot of treads abaut the famous 9800se@9800pro ¡, so i bough a poercolor 9800se... with just 128 bit memory bus.. so, sold it to a friend (i lost the ticket, so was not able to give it back to the shop.. xD ) and then, finaly , 5900xt , all in just 2 month xD

Right now, whaiting until early july to see wich card of the new generation i am gonna buy.. ^^

Trident PCI/ISA? SVGA? (Can't remember model, was on a Pentium 1, was just a little guy when I had this..)
    GeForce 2 GTS 64 MB
    GeForce 4 Ti4200 128 MB
    Radeon 9600 Pro 128 MB

All of those are in order, and my Trident rocked all :), kind of sad though, never had any diamond voodoo cards :(

    GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB
    Realtek 256K

    S3 Virge (2 or 4Mb?)

    nVidia TNT 2 M64 (32Mb)

Elsa Gladiac GeForce 2 Ultra (64Mb DDR)

Galaxy Zeus GeForce 5900XT (128MB) - arriving next week.

The Realtek came with my 33MHx 486DX. The 486 was top of the range when I bought it, and it cost about £2,000 with a SoundBlaster Pro installed. I think it had a massive 20Mb hard drive too, and 4Mb of RAM which I upgraded to a whopping 20Mb.

The S3 Virge I bought from my mate for about a tenner or a fiver. I ran it on my Cyrix 266MHx (overclocked to a massive 299MHz). Finally I could see the extra graphics in Midtown Madness (bananas flying from the bins etc).

The TNT 2 came with my Packard Bell PC (Athlon 750). The card was slightly behind top of the range when I bought the system, for about £1,200.

I upgraded to the Elsa Gladiac GeForce 2 Ultra, and the difference was sweet. It was the top card when I bought it for about £235. It lasted me quite a while and it was well worth the money - the best gfx card I've ever bought.

After upgrading my system to an Athlon 1600XP (overclocked to 1800XP), I bought an FX 5200. I hardly noticed any difference between the GF 2 Ultra and this card. In banchmarks of course, I was able to get the results of the pixel shading tests. It cost me about £40.

If I remember, I'll post my thoughts about my newest card here when it arrives some day next week. I'm hoping for a very noticeable difference, and I'm also hoping to get my Elsa Relevator glasses working with the bloody thing!

Only one other person that has responded had a Rendition based card? That's kind of surprising to me. I figured thier would be a few more. For it's time, the Rendition Verite 1000 offered the best bang for the buck.

GF 6600GT/ 6800GT went for RMA
well I was wondering same but its obvious.
When GF256 came out it was priced at what no other card was before that. People were not ready to pay that much money on gfx card and it took a while for concept of graphic card more expensive than your CPU+mobo to get into peoples head.

I was also wondering, am I the only person to have had a VESA LB graphics card on my 486.
This was on a Packard Bell 486DX2 66 Executive.

  20. I dont upgrade naerly as much as you guys.... in fact, i dont upgrade at all, i build a new computer each time. so:

    ATI Rage 4MB 1996-1999

    TNT2 Ultra 32MB 1999-2003

    Geforce 4 ti4200 2003-present

It's all good... Only an unplyable new game makes me upgrade.
I only built a new pC when my TNT2 wouldn't play Splinter Cell.

Now I'm going to get 1GB ram to play far cry...
