What does this crap from the nexus between international corporation, Wall Street, and government, have to do with me buying groceries from my neighbors farm?

One of us needs a new word because these two things are way to different to be using the same word.

Working in tech myself, I worked with people who regularly would go on to big tech or return from silicon valley. The goers all acted like they had been called up to the pros. The returners were filled with horror stories.

In the UK we have food banks. Basically donations while consumers are in, for example Walmart. People can go free of charge to these food banks(not in Walmart) and get a bags of tinned food and the like.

It's for families. To feed their children, mostly. Almost always from charities.

I watched people coming out of a food bank, opening up a packet of cigarettes (£12 - £14 a pack), smoking then going to the pub (£5 - £7 a pint).
When you are eating shoe leather, you are desperate.
There is also a system where people are given a pre-paid card to buy food, but they complain the card cannot be used to buy alcohol or luxury items.
In the UK there are more unfilled jobs than there are jobless, ask anybody who works in retail.

Getting a job isn't hard. It just depends how lazy the person is. Me, I'd do anything, and I do. I like being on my feet for 8 hours or so. For the time being at least.

When did you gave Ukraine 100+ billion in cash? If you don't understand economics please at least don't write about it. Also, people that "fear recension" because of the layoffs, you have to think that in IT industry people are over-hired, it was the case because of the pandemic and since now it's over and things gets done more easily, they have to just clear themself lol

This thread has been poisoned by the same cocktail of political opinions based on some economics factors.
    Please, don't pursue this avenue.
Discussion can be had without this nonsense.
@Airbud buddy, go get play fetch with your dog and have a hearty meal. Don't let politics derail your position on G3D. Love ya'!

This is all about advertising, nothing more.

Without advertising, the internet would not exist - and the squeeze is on companies who (for some unknown reason) are listed on the stock exchange, even though they do not need money.

Y'know what should be illegal; in every country on the planet?

Sacking people when your company is profitable - because it makes no sense whatsoever, unless you are trying to protect shareholders and simply DO NOT CARE about employees.

Recession and tech companies over hiring and later adjusting is not the same thing.

Both exist right now but are not equal.

But of course, people love a good doom scrolling before breakfast.

Why aren't you guys reporting INTEL's latest shadiness from 2 days ago of them keeping the money from the CHIPS ACT and cancelling their new project? Once again I called it like many other things and I quickly get labeled as "crazy."

I don’t think anyone would argue that inflation is real, or that global recession is very possible, or that it absolutely sucks for all of us from the middle class on down.

Big tech companies were always going to layoff a mess of people after they went on an overhiring binge in 2020-21. My point from before was that you should not read into this too far as it relates to recession. News / media companies are spinning this as directly indicating recession but it’s not. Textbook example of causation vs correlation. These layoffs (in big tech specifically) were always going to happen soon. This may end up being a terrible recession, but those tech jobs were being cut regardless.
