https://pcmanager.microsoft.com/ or direct download link https://aka.ms/PCManager10000 This is a public beta and it should be a very good alternative for ccleaner. The PC Manager App itself is on english. The webpage is on CN language but you can translate it through browser. Give it a try, its official microsoft tool. Maybe it was already posted here and i missed it.
I guess a tool like this should be built-in to Windows, which it will likely be in future versions. Does Microsoft admit by this that their OS needs one or is this tool useless for a regular user? Or perhaps they want to prevent users from using bad alternatives by pushing their own. I guess this tool is a welcome addition in the midst of all. By the way on mobile OP's link takes to Chinese version of the site.
It is a chinese version, the webpage itself. But if you click on the blue button on top of the page, this will download the tool. I have tested it and to be honest an advanced user can do all this under settings plus startup applications optimization but pc manager has bundled all this at one spot. The nice thing is app popup blocker or a function to search for files 10/50/100 or 1Gigabyte and delete them manual. If they would build registry cleanup + some other tweaks this would be a great tool and as you said, part of windows system, like their antivirus now. To be honest i have deinstalled ccleaner, have cleaned files and did boost and file cleanup with pc manager tool and my windows feels more responsive. I will stay with this tool. If someone needs a ccleaner key for 1desktop machine, i have a paid version until July 2023 and will give it away for free because i will not use it anymore. ps: https://aka.ms/PCManager10000 this is direct download link
Looks interesting, but I doubt it would cover as-much as BleachBit with the community profiles, and that's open-source. There's at least 3 methods in Windows to clean temp files, and they all clean-up different things (Disk Cleanup from GUI, Disk Cleanup with sageset/run flags, and Temporary Files in UWP Settings). Hopefully this tool at least covers all of that instead of being a 4th option
i havent heard about bleachbit until now. Will look online for information or on their official webpage and give it a try then. Thanks!
under the download button i see: 全面兼容Win10 (1809) 以上操作系统 and translating above with deepl from chinese to english i get: Fully compatible with Win 10 (1809) and above. I cant get rid of CCleaner with CCenhancer. all the other programs clean less. Though I admit not everything must be cleaned LOL
F*ck CCleaner, this thing tries to cling into your pc EVERY POSSBILE WAY! here is one way of it trying not to leave you alone.
https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/91089-delete-service-windows.html Had to uninstall Asus armoury crate and even using their uninstall tool, it leaves a bunch of entries under services that I had to manually delete.
stop using the installer, I been using portable builds for as long as i can remeber, CCleaner got hacked and malware added to YEARS ago, and it has not lived it down, just like Seagate they had FW that messed there drives up and have never lived down since, CCleaner is fine just use portable builds, in fact use portable builds everything when possible for reason only that dont come with "extra" stuff
oh wow, ok , thanks for the info. am doing it right now. https://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/ccleaner_portable.html is this the one? portable version? say ad-supported, is it safe?
@akbaar CCleaner Portable from MG link above is safe, you can get portable CCleaner from here too: https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner/download/portable
Neither / nor. This is a tool for us admins. We give that to users to fumble with their rigs. It is MS, so MS will not insert anything which may break their OS, at least not by intention. And bet they have a broad knowledge of Windows and know what may break when and why. By using this tool they pleasure the need by many who would install 3rd party software otherwise. 3rd party SW may not be as optimized for Windows as MS software can be. Therefore I think MS just limits collateral damage by releasing such tools. TuneUp Utilities anyone?
