Incorrect insertion has now been confirmed as the main reason for primary reason for melting failures, by GN.

Users cables supplied each demonstrated melting markings/lines at the plastic of the pins that indicated this was the point at with the plug on the card reached on the pins.

GN tested a loose connection of 1mm, but identified in newt esting that users have been leaving as much as 4mm gap.

It's possible that originally there was less than 4mm but the vibration of the card loosened the cable connection over time. My GPU support bracket came with a soft rubber cushion that was glued to it so that the GPU would not rest on metal. That soft rubber cushion unglued itself after a couple of months likely because of the vibration of the card. Also i think the cable they sent for xray analysis did not have markings.

    Saw that video.
Still proves Nvidias connector is a POS.

    VERY IMPORTANT:
No, on PC Windows. But if you're running Android (or iOS?) for smarthphone or tablet, I say "yeah". :)

Yes and no. With the cable properly plugged in and cut off connectors, they forced a ton of power through without too much issue.

This confirmed I can use a 1000W bios with just one connector.

I still think the connector design sucks. Im not referring to its power delivery capabilities. Im be slamming Intel and AMD if they used the same one.

The thing is you know they eventually will as it's a pci sig standard. Hopefully whatever the cause is it reqtified quickly.

The thing is, Nvidia keeps pushing crap that doesn't need to be pushed. So honestly I don't care if it's a Sig standard or not, is it really truly necessary to push something so hard when the market isn't even really needing it yet.

    It's the combination of everything.
The cable adapter is simply completely unsuitable for the the new 12 pin connector. There are too many sources of error, GPU does not fit in PC case, power draw, etc. etc.
Many problems come together. But Nvidia should have thought of it beforehand. It´s a great very powerful GPU card, but simply an overall design error. I think I will skip ADA and buy a "cheap" (whatever cheap means nowadays) GPU for bridging time until next gen. Maybe NV will learn from this disaster.

Nonsense performance you mean? Don´t worry, I will give NV a second chance, maybe next near....

I did a duckduckgo search, guess what:

It does suck, but kudos for at least trying to push the boundaries

    3 or 4 8-pins is a mess of cables
