Actually, the 7900 looks good with the default cooler, I do not mind getting AMD made 7900XT/XTX if they look this good. But since I'd only be back in my home country in February, it looks like I'd prolly go with a Sapphire Nitro+ version. So loving the Nitro+ RX 6900 XT (will prolly put it in my 2nd rig after I get the NAVI 31) after end level of Serious Sam 4, GPU temp is 60C, while Hotspot is 76C in room with ambient temp at 24C....with my more aggressive custom fan setting ofc.

  5. I noticed my junction temp with a 6600 XT around 105C yesterday. I suppose it's within limits but I also wonder if a re-paste would help that? I'll likely give it a try in the near future.

Definitely, are your fans ramping up faster too? Edge temp might still be in the ~60s but fans may well be spinning up faster to compensate - It happened to me with my 6700XT - pump out effect (I think it's because of how rapidly these chips can heat and how quickly they can cool).

If you do repaste, try using a paste that's more viscous - I repasted once before with MX-4, temps were great for a month but then hot spot temps were getting high again with fans ramping up - used SYY-157 paste the 2nd time and it's been right for a year now.

Yeah, it's complicated how watts, heat and heat sink work. So, I won't go there.
As for thermal paste it's a case of nothing ventured nothing gained, But the logic is there huh?
I did not re paste my card in the end. After much chewing on the fat.

Sorry, i know that's a LONG delay between question and answer, but still
On my hand i do have AORUS 6750XT (technically also Gigabyte, so...), and with 265W temps are around 65 degrees on core and 84-90 degrees on hotspot. Fans are on default curve and run usually around 2100-2400 RPM from 3000 (i am more impressed at how silent they are, though). So imo, but 100-110 junction temps are bit too much of a difference from 65 on edge (literally 35-45 degrees). Maybe don't overuse OC sliders that much? Especially power limits.

Also if even you mention artifacts (that means they are clearly visible), that's clear sign that it is not stable enough. Try running MSI Kombustor for artifact test on memory clocks, and Warframe Iron Citadel as test for core clock (you will be surprised how much you may need to tune them down, ngl). For me MSI Kombustor shown that even when i am able to "run" Fast timings level 2, max frequency i can use with them is EXTREMELY inconsistent and varies from 2312(2300) which is max possible frequency, to 2262(2250) or even sometimes lower. Fast timings level 1 though can be run all day long without problems.
And Warframe shown me that despite being able to run Superposition with 2925 max frequency, it will crash if not at login screen, then it will crash almost instantly at attempt to load Iron Citadel, up until i reduce frequency to 2885 or so. And even then it can randomly crash driver, just frequency goes down exponentially (currently running 2850).

Default cooling on my 6800 is really good , especially if you do some UV magic :D

Very, very late, but I'll join this club soon !

    upload_2022-11-10_9-27-51.png

Got this for a decently good price ( single piece in stock in the store ), where I live everything is at least 30% higher than US prices (calculated), but this one actually -matched- US price

    ---
I only have a 660W PSU, but it's a high-end Fractal Design Ion+ with very high efficiency on the 230V EU socket (94%+), so I think it will be fine.
Might undervolt/power limit the 6800XT a bit to gain a bit more efficiency and reduce some watts...

Oh man I have so many games I want to try !

    ---
Edit: Helping AMD getting rid of that 6000 series stock ;-)

I expect 7900XTX to be at least twice the I paid for ye olde 6800XT, here where I live, and be available only in early February (East Europe kinda sucks when it comes to computer hardware)

So I guess I'll have stuff to do during the winter, instead of continuing to wait, and wait....

(Heaven 4.0 runs behind to sustain a load on the card)

At these values, it gets roughly the same scores in benchmarks as on "Default".
Confirmed in games, stable and I am not seeing slower performance than the out of the box config, while consuming 100W less (measured at the wall)

    I am pretty stunned.
    How is this possible ?

I'm sure I can squeeze a few points more if I chill the room down a bit (it was pretty warm inside due to all the testing I did yesterday)

But damn, that's definitely 3090 Ti level performance !

My card if from the release date, It does 2700mhz but I have to put it with 1.2v.

It goes over to 23k but I need more cpu. The 3900x is not that fast for it.

Did you use that MPT tool for that ? By default it doesn't seem to go over 1.15v no matter what.

Also, what was the power consumption at 1.2v and 2.7Ghz ? It must have been huge, 400W+

yes mpt, you have to go to tempereture dependent vmin, then on Vmin low/high you put more mv there needs to be the same on both.

on the feature control you need to check tempereture dependent vmin. power limit just put 400w or more and on the tdc limit also.

My card is on water and things dont get to crazy.

    They don't

There's still potential. This is my very modest chip running at the default power limit 255W

Yes they dont sorry I was going for max and needed the voltage not to drop.

Im running 0.800 to 1200mv with 2700mhz set , it runs at 2650mhz most of the time, mine is not very good.
