I googled it and I'm getting mixed messages from people. I have a 75Hz panel. I made sure Freesync is enabled through AMD adrenaline software and my monitor. After doing that I started up a few games and I still see tearing. After googling I'm not sure what to do. Do I cap the frame rate a couple of FPS below the refresh rate using Radeon Chill AND enable traditional Vysnc or can I just cap the frame rate a few FPS below the refresh rate and use Enhanced sync? Do I just cap the frame rate? Do I need to cap the frame rate at all? Do I just enable Vysnc or Enhanced sync?
Yes always cap the framerate 2-4fps below refresh rate of the monitor same goes for gsync. I have 140fps cap at 144hz in order to stay in gsync range and avoid tearing.
How to Enable AMD FreeSync on Old Adrenalin https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/dh-013 New Adrenalin https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/dh2-013
Both those leave out the fact that FPS needs to be capped 2-5 frames lower than the refresh rate. **EDIT** Which should be done automatically.
After reading this article I went ahead and uncapped the frame rate and enabled Enhanced sync: AMD Introduces 'Enhanced Sync' Framerate Synchronization Technology | Tom's Hardware (tomshardware.com) Works good enough for me. Not only that since I disabled Radeon chill I can re-enable Radeon anti-lag for even less input latency. I also looked at AMD's page for Enhanced sync: Enhanced Sync Technology | AMD These two graphs look too good to be true. Freesync+Enhanced sync is also a good way to let me manage frame rate when setting graphics settings so it's always 60+ fps. I like this one as well:
Enable it in the monitor settings.(yes it should be in its menu). Make sure you are using Display Port cable. Thats it. Should just work, i mean it does for me.
