Is it possible that the GTX1080TI is the greatest gfx card ever made. They cost 600 when they came out, they lasted 6years and are still going strong, well @1080p and the max power consumption is like 200W? Will we ever get a top dog GPU with low power consumption and a reasonable price that lasts 6 years ever again?
RX580 is still going strong too from 2017. Almost six years and does very well at 1080p and not to forget but at the time AMD's GCN architecture had much better support for DX12 and Vulkan games and to think it was just more of a refresh of the RX480. 8800GTX was also a trooper. Was an insane upgrade from the previous gens and lasted for a long time too with the 9800GTX being a refresh also.
Agreed, 1080ti was a massive leap from the previous generation, same goes for the 8800gtx over the 7800 series, massive jump. With the XOC bios, 1080ti still hold on to its own very strong, still a dang good card.
When I got my 1080 (non Ti) in 2016, I did not imagine I'll still be using it more than 6 years in the future. I thought it will be in my main gaming PC for 3, at most 4 years. Yet here we are... it's still running (after a complete cooler replacement and two repastes). IF I had the 1080 Ti instead, I wouldn't even bother thinking of an upgrade until next year, but right now 1080 is already sub mid-range compared to the new stuff, and it will become low-end once RTX 40xx and RDNA3 launch. Great run, champ, great run ! You will be remembered !
Pascal lineup was fantastic. My GTX 1060 (I bought it on the day it launched) was a little beast and only this year I changed for a 3060. For the many comparisons I saw, the 3060 is on par with the GTX 1080Ti and even some times is little bellow on older titles, at 1080p or even 2K in today games the 1080Ti still rocks everything. That GPU is the true beast.
My old 1080Ti is still running in a friend's PC since I gifted it to him after upgrading to the 2080Ti. With that, a repaste of TIM (I used a waterblock, he doesn't), and all's good. Fine enough for his personal (1080/60) needs.
I still use my 1080ti in my main (not gaming) PC. I would have passed it on after buying the 3090 but that wouldnt work in my 6700K build (wouldnt even post, wasnt power or ram) so had to buy a new PC for it quickly. I've got to say its a great having a 1080ti now with the STUPID electricity prices. Games that need less GPU dont require the power expensive 3090. This whole 6700K machine idles under 60W too (measured at wall).
MY SWEET CUTIE 1070 TI TITANIUM is indeed by my side....... running farcry 6, RDR2...cyberpunk...all decently..... EDIT: i think i entered the wrong door (1080Ti)...but it's ok i think
Had both those cards, my 1080Ti will be joining my 3800x and 570x taichi in a video editing rig as soon as the new AMD stuff is out. I ran my 1080Ti at 4k and it was a great card with all that VRam.
Indeed, I forgot to mention mine is being used on the Samsung CRG9 5120x1440 res display (2x 1440p displays effective), just short of UHD pixels. It performs really well at native res with many titles. Some are running at 3840x1080p which looks incredibly good for none native res (props to the CRG9).
1080ti is a great card but you cant deny that isnt getting any driver optimizations for a while now. New games shows that.
If I also remembered correctly way back when I was testing two of these in SLI + My custom made bits, along with XOC bios, I was running an old game, Mass Effect 3 (No Reshade at that time) + Texture Mods (Best at that time) + 8K (DSR) Resolution + Nvidia inspector forced AA: 1x2 [Supersampling (D3D Only)], Was over 60 Fps, Absolute insane, and yes, even @4k or 8k, the overall AA quality still show some aliasing, all depending on the game of course. Despite its age, still manages to hold extremely well. You might get away with some 1440p games or even 4k games now but they would the settings themselves would have to be completely adjusted, 1080p should be 0 problems with todays games. Here is one of my videos showing Firestrike Ultra in Sli (2X1080ti Hybrids/These were recorded while using Geforce Shadow play at that time so loss of performance will be there)): Another video of mine (Not 1080ti but 2 980ti in Sli), Mass Effect 1 & 2 Intro + Alot texture Mod + nvidia inspector forced AA: Will give an somewhat of an idea how a single 1080ti would operate, also, both Videos below, fps meter is on the top left of the video (Fraps): Mass Effect 1 Intro (DX9 version + Texture Mods @ 4k + Nvidia Inspector forced AA (2x2 Supersamping): & Here is: Mass Effect 2 Intro (DX9 version + Texture Mods @ 4k + Nvidia Inspector forced AA (2x2 Supersampling): Some UE4 tech demos (2 980ti in Sli): Mantiee Tech Demo @ 4k : Infiltrator Tech Demo @ 4k:
