It looks so Chinese made that on the third picture the holes are not even aligned with the plates...

 

No one sane enough in this world would buy this, disaster waiting to happen.

Never had an aquarium but wouldnt the water get too warm for most fishes especially in summer?

 

Cool an overclocked to max 12900ks and a 3090ti ..... And after the gaming session enjoy your fish soup !

So chocolate teapot, ejector seat for a helicopter and screen door on a submarine all spring to mind when I see this.

Not really, it takes a surprising amount of energy to heat a large body of water by even a few degrees. The PCs own internal cooling combined with ambient air temp should be more than enough to keep the water in the aquarium at a stable enough temp for tropical fish, goldfish as well as they seem to be pretty sturdy little critters.

 

Always wanted a pet lion fish but couldn't quite justify it, but now.

 

I do have an aquarium and it is a lot of work to do properly. Having a small tank like this on top of a PC would be a pain. It would not really help PC at all in terms of cooling... there is no real thermal transfer from hot components to the water. In my experience it IS easy to overheat the water - when we had some decent sun there last few weeks my thermostat could not keep water temp in green, it rose 3 degrees just by extra light and thermostat was in red all those days - had to keep curtains closed. A small tank like this is harder to maintain than bigger tanks in terms of water properties (ammonia, nitrites, nitrates etc) so more water changes... so you would need siphon system to do it here. Changing components after tank is cycled and stable would be a nightmare - you can't just dump all the water out to fix PC problems. Also no way should you keep goldfish in such a small tank - they grow big quickly and have to be kept away from other fish - and prefer cold water, and produce a lot of waste. Better to keep small fish like danios, tetras, cories, platys. Also small, cheap internal filters provided with these cheap tanks are usually crap - better off with large external canister filter like Fluval 207.

So in summary you have two difficult to maintain and maintenance systems put together to make even more problems than they are separately.

 

This is just an expansive metaphor about a prelude of a disaster.

 

I did one better:
My server is inside the aquarium, and submerged. It's mineral oil, so there's nothing living in it, but it still confuses/intrigues guests. 100% silence.

I was going to submit it for RotM but seems like those aren't happening anymore

 

Cool gimmick, wouldn't have the courage to use it myself though. A review of it could be hilarious

 

This thing shouldn't have any fish in. maybe some water and plants, but even there the risk of ruining the plants with continuos pc usage is high.
Is way better a smaller pc and a small acquarium on the side

 

Thought about that as well. Only that I don't fancy switching components or troubleshooting if anything happens.

 

I also pity the fish suffering constant, different frequency vibrations coming from the PC.
The tank is in direct contact with the PC, the fish are effectively also in direct contact too because water transmits vibration very well.
Fish are extremely sensitive to vibration for their survival, this wont be a pleasant way for them to live.

Yep.... arguably not worth it.
For anyone who is considering the idea, be aware that anything kind of rubbery (including the sheathing for wires) will basically turn into solid plastic.
