as bad as the power draw is, it's better than the past for the level of performance.

i was just recalling on another thread my GTX 980 SLI... which in those days (SLI) was needed to get high framerates @ 1440p or 1080p.

that was the last time i "needed" to go SLI or have a 1kW psu

i still prefer the lowest power draw possible, but i also like the level of performance offered by single cards nowadays. the other thing is that everyone who wants this level of performance is now paying for a model far less expensive...with a lower power draw (even tho' it's still high).

Ive no idea what this means unless its an attempt at a pissing competition. But being on a enthusiast forum and complaining about newer/faster/hotter/juicier hardware is a bit odd.
A bit like being a pacifist and joining the Army just for travel.

That's not how physics work if your hardware generates 100 joules of energy those joules will end up in the air as heat... Water cooling or air-cooling . In return your ac has to work to transfer out these 100 extra joules and acs are faaaaaaar away from 100% efficiency so they have to spend over 300 joules to move those 100 joules of heat energy outside of your home . Now I will put aside environment or cost ... You might be in a full renewable energy grid or have solar panels your self or whatever, and the cost of electricity to be no issue! I think a big part why you see people so negative about the increase of electricity consumption has a lot to do with the location you live . For example northern Europe homes typically are made from concrete and with strong isolation designed to keep heat inside and often lack a/c not because people being stingy but simply because till recently the chance they will really need one was low. Now such buildings bleed heat outside much slower(they where build to keep heat inside after all!) so adding 200 300 or500 watts of extra heating tends to have a much much much bigger impact often changing the room temperature from pleasant to hot .... To unbearable overtime!

And i dont care, il just turn up the AC.
Also as i bought my house before it was built i have planned everything out as far as the gaming room is concerned, so my PC exhausts the warm case air out of the house which means little of the warm air recirculates back into the room.

i am not saying you should care i am just explaining that people caring about consumption or not is not just about environmental it varies from a lot of variables that's why we see people that do not care and people that will freak out even if they see 1 watt increase .

I get that, im saying i don't care if people care or not, or for what reason they care or not.
I can 100% guarantee you that many of life's pressures simply fade away when you stop caring about other peoples views

That's just wrong LOL, AC consume about 1/4 of the heat it remove, 1HP AC can cool 8000Btu ~ 2300W of heat while consuming 600W , just think of the AC as a fan that remove the heat from your room.

yes indeed for some reason in my mind i had 3.41 watts = 1 btu ...while it is the reversed 3.41 btu = 1 watt , brainfart .
