An engineer sample of Intel's forthcoming Raptor Lake Core i9-13900K has leaked on Geekbench. It's one of the ES samples that's been circulating recently, but this is the first time we've seen its...

I mean, RpL is supposed to launch in like... November/December. Zen 4 has already shown to have an equal lead over AdL as this and launches in September.

If nothing else, it's a good thing for competition. :D

I think the only place intel loses to AMD is power consumption on the benchmark, but when you do not play games or use intel hard, you actually save more power on intel..

Like 12900k with fast memory is pushing 40-50% more fps per watt than 5950x in cpu bound games. Rendering is almost the other way around.

Looks like it's going to be a slight bump in single threaded and a fairly decent one in multi. Not sure who this is aimed at though, tbh. Haven't met anyone who was holding out for Raptor Lake that hasn't already jumped over to ADL, and people on Zen are mostly waiting to see what Zen 4 brings (or - like me - waiting on Meteor).

Looking forward to seeing what our boy nizzen does with it though. Should be an interesting take.

That chart would be more interesting with Ryzen 7000 numbers. Ryzen 5000 is too long in the tooth already, since it was actually Intel 11th gen competitor. The only performance competitor against Intel 12th gen AMD managed to release is the 5800X3D, which indeed did beat Alder Lake in gaming, even if in nothing else due to lacking clocks and cores. As it is, that chart does nothing but remind me of the long line of ridiculous official charts from from both AMD and Intel, which compare their latest and greatest against the other's old gen.

Only if you can find a game that is badly enough programmed and if the 12900k is running Intel stock bios settings and top memory and GPU with 300-500 Watts and minimum a 240hz monitor or sync off, would you get a result like 40-50%.
All those things at the same time is a fairly rare combination.

Just get a 5800x3d for gaming and the results are the other way around, with AMD having the lead in FPS per Watt.

Sure, but since we have no Ryzen 7000 to compare, we can only use whats available and make guesses as to what we think Zen 4 will be capable of.

Not rare, bur rare for you maybe :)
    I have both 5950x and 12900k.

Since you "know", show me :)

According to the 20 videos I have seen it does not happen at 1080p high settings in:
    Forza horizon
    Shadow of the tomb raider
    Cyberpunk 2077
    Hitman
    Red dead redemption 2
    Mafia
Pubg not even at 360 fps
    Horizon zero dawn
    flight simulator
    days gone
    assassins creed
CSGO not even at 600 fps benchmark
    Farcry
    borderlands

Can we agree that it is less likely at 1440p and 4k?

The 12900k does not even beat a 5800x with 40-50% in many games.
Both the 12900k and the 5950x are not gaming CPUes and they both get beaten by the 5800x3d in game performance, price and power usage, so why do you keep comparing 12900k and 5950x in gaming performance?

Is there any Ryzen 7000 benchmarks to compare it with?

Not every game is boosted from more cache and for emulation its useless.
13th gen intel will also come with more cache by default, so the actual gaming results will be faster than 7%, which anyway is not a real score since ES are slower, i think we should expect at least 10% SC and up to 15%

I sure hope am5 socket is as versatile as am4.

friend of mine just upgraded from a ryzen 2600 to a 5600x and he didn't have to change anything else....except for the new 3060ti.

    nice easy upgrade for him.

Hey, am I correct to say Ryzen 7000 series only supports ddr5? Could that hinder them in the short-term? ($)....I know.....>I ask too many questions! Grrrr.....:D

It seems to me the famous twitter_usernames always have any benchmark results ready and waiting if somebody asks.

IPC on Ryzen 7800x is 22% faster than 12900k (Alder Lake)

11900k has 20% higher ipc than 10900k, but equal in gaming. 11900k has 20% higher latency in cache, so it's sometimes equal and even slower in gaming than 10900k.

Just saying that ipc isn't everything :p

    Au contraire!....IPC is the fastest....

you can blur the lines all you want...

You are wrong....IPC is everything...the future depends on IPC.

@nizzen I have no idea why that^ is in bold typing^

    Love you Brother.
