Yeah...some games stress the GPU more than others so if the game crashes the first thing to do is to restore all to default. If crashes continue it's the game or the driver, otherwise voltages and freq must be adjusted for that game.
And it goes without saying that this only works if the CPU and RAM are fully stable because the same thing can happen with a CPU or RAM overclock. All can be stable 24/7 except some random game that CTD. I learned that the hard way with AC Valhalla lol.

Not only is AMD VCE lacking, but they are also not stable. Two crashes during GTA Online in 30 minutes. Back to 22.5.1 and GTA Online works for another three hours...
Since they added DX11 optimisations I have no stability :/

I hate not that they botched it. I hate that they don't even bother to fix.
Most useful function is gone for months and no one scratch an a...

I think this thing that they are not even fixing vce and amf signifies that either they are gonna release a newer version or a brand new thing, or they are just ignorant and dont care about their whole community which uses these features, i think the later is unlikely so i am quite sure that they are gonna bring many more improvements to vce and amf. At least im hoping for. But they should announce it.

Me thinks you search in the wrong direction. That could be another strong evidence that your GPU oc or uv settings are unstable since the higher GPU utilisation results in instability.

No, i don't think so. Why i can play Control with RT On, locked 60fps, on 22.5.1 without any crash for two hours, but on every 22.5.2, and now 22.6.1 it will Crash after few minutes? Maybe 22.7.1 will bring back AMD VCE and stability...

Hopefully they'll stop screwing up the ability for virtual reality to work too, its 3 drivers in a row now

I'd agree with you that the drivers are in fault if you were in stock settings. Are you though?

Yes, exactly. That's why I thought the GPU I just bought was faulty. First driver i ever installed was 22.5.2. Constant crashes, missing VCE in NLE software. I tried quiet bios, performance bios, locking core clocks, other weird stuff. I thought I had too weak a power supply. It tooks me five days, i was ready to RMA this GPU. I wrote a post about the lack of AMD VCE for Sony Vegas 19 in the middle of this angry days. One user wrote me to go back to 22.5.1, because it works there, and he was right. VCE back and my games stop crashing at all. Magic...

btw GPU is rocksolid with 1.1mV UV on that 22.5.1

every 22.5.2 and 22.6.1 crashes on stock.

I've heard that some peple have found a successful workaround in capping gfx core clock to like 2000 on NV21

FINALLY, it took AMD many years but they fix the damn Vsync issue on their driver.
AMD Radeon driver: 31.0.12001.2008 with Radeon Software: 10.22.20023.0 has proper Vsync in the driver level now in DX9, DX10, DX11 and DX12. WDDM 3.1 driver has been nothing but great things ever since I install it.

Here the 22.6.1 does not play 100% well with Photoshop, back to 22.5.1 WHQL.
Sometimes the Layer Masks got corrupted.
I do not know if some third party plug-in is the culprit, but the 22.5.1 WHQL works with no problem.

Seems that may be related if you're using HEVC

    Update:
Looks like the culprit was NIK Collection 5, updating to the last version seems to fixed the problem with driver 22.6.1

This set seems to have fixed the gray screen crash with Edge (and Chrome) if HW acceleration was enabled.

Can you elaborate on this with a screenshot? Which version of photoshop is this with? Would I be correct in presuming this does not occur with HW accel disabled on the app side?

Latest version of everything, Windows was the build before the actual Win 11 21H2 build 22000.795
    I guess Build 22000.768 or 765
    Photoshop is Version: 23.4.1 20220615.r.547 3121b66 x64
I can not create screenshot with the corruption because now it is not happening.
Here a simulation of the problem
    [IMG]
The corruption manifests when ALT+Left Mouse Button over the Layer Mask, like:
    1 The mask is ok
2 ALT+Left Mouse Button over the Layer Mask
3 Boooooommmm, some rectangle appear in the mask

It happened many times, updated the NIK Collection and no more corruption.
I did not disable hardware acceleration in Photoshop or NIK Collection.

BTW, every time there is a GPU driver update, Photoshop update or a
new plug-in, I reset Photoshop Preferences to avoid headaches.

Great practice there, I had a similar habit.

I'm resetting shader cache with every new driver branch installation
