Overclocking days of gpus/cpus are behind us. Everything is pushed to max all you can is undervolt a bit if you card allows.

Theres still a little wiggle room on GPU,s, well on my most recent cards (1080Ti and 6900xt) but i agree the days of monster clocks, delids and soldering breakers are long gone.

There is, kinda. I actually got uv+oc on my 2080super. Got a 100mhz more on the lower voltage than stock. Better than nothing i guess.

Well as you wrote above, I do too think our overclocking days are over. For a very long time actually, when it comes to GPUs. Since Pascal, that is, at least. With CPUs maybe it's still different, but AMD already has made "big" steps towards making that obsolete.
And yeah, cooling will be the thing, glad I am already laying out my next build with a custom loop in mind. Home I get it right until those new hardware toys come around :D

I wonder if we'll get another great announcement video with him taking the card out of the oven.

RTX 4 series will sell like crazy to gamers, like pretty much all nVidia gpu's.

    Steam 2022:
Where is AMD 6 series

You cant know that. Nvidia could drop the ball on 40 series when people realize they need to change their psu's to actually use them.

I know that, and I know power isn't going to be a problem more than RTX 30 series ;)
Quote me on that when RTX 40 series arrives :D

if it over 200 watt the gpu i dont want it, anything over that is just to much heat generated and all that heat has to go someplace that gona in to the room pc is in

For me here in Norway, it's the oposite. If it's under 200w, I need more added heat i my "nerd" room. :p

Have 2x gaming computers here in one room. One is using ~800w on load and the other is using about 700w on load.

When 2 people are playing for hours, it's heating more of the house. Meaning less need to use other heat sources to heat the house :)
If it's too hot, I open the windows.

    I solve problems for a living ;)

I don't get the big deal with the power usage. I will instantly take 2x performance for 2x power usage.

if you dont get you never will. 2x performance for 2x power is NOT gpu advancements when do 2x peformance using the same power as before that advancment.

Then there those that dont want the higher power usage cause added cost, not everplace has "cheap" power, then there those that dont want that heat dumped in room, GPU already run hot compared to CPU

It great in winter special if you dont have heat sources or dont want to use them to heat. not so much in summer and special if you using AC/Central air to counter act that heat out side and added heat in the house.

when i was younger i didnt give crap cause didnt care about power bill let alone seen it. i am older and know it actual matters.

To each there own. but double performance at cost double the power is not advancments

Whats not to get? Big, chunky, loud. It requires hefty power supply, alot of cooling and it dumbs everything into the room. Noise and heat becomes unbearable especially in the summer.

How is it not an advancement if I wasn't able to get a single GPU with 2x performance previously? The 3090 still has trouble playing modern games at 4k 120fps. I'll gladly sacrifice some power for that.

How about 10 time performance @ 10 times power draw. With an external 5000w PSU? Yeah baby, moar FPS! :D
