PCI Gen3 x 24 yeap intel has released a new PCIE Slot on some of its new Server Boards wonder when we will see them consumer side or if. http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/server-systems/server-system-r2300gz.html
Cool that theyve released it but im not really worried when current gen cards can barely saturate pcie 2.0 x16 let alone pcie 3.0 x16. Hopefully this will help encourage the likes of nvidia/amd to develop cards with more grunt....but i think we will all be held back until consoles up their ante before anything drastic happens.
The x24, AFAIK, is designed for riser cards. It allows you to have more daughter slots on the riser card before your bandwidth suffers. -scheherazade
Intel is also releasing the new Xeon Phi co-processor (60 cores, 240 threads) on a PCIe X24 daughter board. The model number is 5120D.
Probably won't see consumer, PCI-E 3.1 is out, but probably won't be utilised, PCI-E 4.0 is already 'out' (but yet to be utilised and finalised).
Sometimes you have to dig some graves ... I just found this: https://skinflint.co.uk/asus-krpa-u16-90sb0760-m0uay0-a2196271.html ... but I couldn't find any x24 cards except some Tyan for their boards. Does anyone know any x24 card to fit in there?
