Yes, I think you are completely right, Amd is acting the same crapping way as nvidia!
It's so damn sad!
Let's only hope that Amenerim 3rd party drivers keeps up that amazing work.
If someone has the time and money, they should put nvidia and amd asses in court, to stop them to sell LIES to the customers!

Nice, if only AMD release HDMI 2.1 Forum VRR support in there driver today since driver 31.0.12001.2008 has them.

Chrome black screen frame flickering while playing videos seems to be fixed.
Also the stuttering while hovering links seems to be fixed too.

 

Just try 22.5.2 (6/20/22), there no VRR when using HDMI 2.1 on both Windows 11 21H2 and 22H2. now if I use UWP driver v31.0.12001.2008 I get VRR on 21H2 and 22H2.

 

Had brightness flickering in games with Freesync & Chill with previous versions of 22.5.2, fixed with 06/20 Release.

Not sure if a recent AMD driver messed this up, certainly don't remember changing that setting recently but just glad to have a simple solution to an annoying problem!

Not constructive, but I wonder why the driver situation is all over the place like this. The UWP driver hasn't been able to get a control panel for a few versions now, and apparently supports VRR. 22.5.2 has another silent update without a version bump, and still without any mention of VR or Oculus being fixed or even a known issue (glad to see those error reports I fill are being useful )

Edit: Oculus is still broken on the 3rd driver. Time for another useful bug report.

I doubt those OpenGL fixes will end up in the Enterprise drivers any time soon until AMD does their "extensive OEM platform validation and comprehensive ISV certification testing", presumably against all the enterprise software they claim to support. I don't understand fully what the OpenGL changes are exactly to improve performance, but it seems like that would have the potential to cause issues or rendering inconsistencies.

Im having an issue with my rx 6600. Basically none of the softwares are able to use amd vce or vcn with 22.5.2 drivers. I recorded some youtube videos with my old rx 480 with relive previously. After i bought this new gpu. I havent been able to record smooth gameplays with rx 6600. Relive recordings are laggy and choppy and vegas 19 doesnt recognize amd vce. Also tried using bandicam which said your pc doesnt support amd vce. So there is something wrong with amd vce plugin with rx 6600 which needs to be fixed asap.

 

Go back to 22.5.1. AMD VCE and other encoders/decoders are bugged mess on 22.5.2.

 

22.5.1 crashes alot for me and also has the same issues with vce on my rx 6600. I already tried it. 22.5.1 is unstable for me and i cant game with it. Vce issues are there ever since i bought the gpu in april 2022.

 

Weird, Relive recordings or OBS using AMD VCE (both h.264 and h.265) work fine for me, with this driver too.

6800 XT here.

i just installed 22.5.1 again and now i can record with hevc fine. but avc is still broken. vegas pro and bandicam are working too. But as usual 22.5.1 crashes alot and is very unstable on rx 6600. 22.5.2 is fully stable in terms of crashes for me but relive and amd vce is broken on it at least for me. This should be fixed by next release asap.

 

Also one more question. Is it possible to install relive and amd vce encoder from another driver when u have 22.5.2 installed? Thanks.

 

What an historically bad driver. Sorry if my complains annoy some here, but this driver with it's vast amount of issues and silent rereleases is just a very bad attempt. I hope lessons are learned for everybody involved.

PS. Recently my friend had a sudden reboot on Vega 56 when we gamed and he told me that he had updated his GPU drivers, so I'm pretty sure what to do when I get to visit him.

 

My short testing on Windows with a 6600 xt and 22.5.2 (2nd driver) was that HEVC didn't work (AmaEncode worked fine with H.264 and immediately failed with HEVC). HEVC does work on Linux with vaapi, so it seems the issue may be tied to AMF.

According to a person in the Virtual Desktop Discord, 21.10.2 was the last driver where HEVC worked: https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/release-notes/rn-rad-win-21-10-2

The main dev of VD is recommending 22.5.1 for RDNA1/2 only for H.264, and only at or below 100Mbps.

And apparently AMF is broken enough with Polaris that the last driver where it worked properly is 20.10.1.
