Hi guys, I can get either of these CPUs for the same price. I was thinking, which is the better bin? I have no use for the integrated graphics but I was thinking that, because the graphics are part of the same die, and that part of the die is faulty and switched off on the kf model, does that mean the rest of the die is also less than ideal and the 10850k would be better, given that it all works? Obviously the 10900k (non f) is the best but that is quite a lot more money. Thanks for any help you can give,
You can't go wrong with either cpu. Do you own a Z490 board? If not then I'd suggest a Intel 12 gen build.
Short answer is no, it doesn't mean the 10850 is better. I'd only consider the 10850 if I NEEDED integrated graphics. The 10900K silicon could be binned all the way down to a 10600, so no worries about the rest of the die. I think the 10900KF probably performs the same or slightly better, and also run cooler than 10850k.
Ive had quite a few 10900's and 10850's so from experience I will say this: First and foremost silicon lottery is still the most important. I had a 10850k that OC'd WAY BETTER then 1 of my 10900k's. Actually my worst chips where 10900k's (Early batches were slightly better for 5.3ghz range with lower voltage) and later batches sucked! My best OC'er was a 10900KF which I still use today in my daily driver PC. She does 5.3GHz all core @ 1.285v. So luck of the draw man, its all a big expensive gamble
