I been reading and i more i read the more i get confused

DSR and DLSS do the same thing? example make 1080p monitor show 1440p/4K on 1080p monitor? but DSR has hit to actual is rendering 4k and scaling it back? and DLSS scaling it up to 1400p/4k? while not as good as actual rendering 4k it get close and runs as faster fps then native, correct?

    And NIS

just take your native resolution (1080p) and renders at lower resolution aka 85% of it and scales it up native res while improving framerates and attempting to give better image then if you actual used res that was 85% of 1080p?

more i read about the more i get confused. so basicly i only way i getting 4k on 1080p monitor is to use DSR and take same hit to performance as i would with actual rendering @ 4k or get gpu that supports DLSS which will get close to 4 quality on 1080p screen? but much better framerates?

DSR to Render at higher res - Downsample to Display's Native Res
DLSS to Render at reduced res - Advanced Upscale to Display's Native Res
NIS to Render at reduced res - Upscale to Display's Native Res

You can combine DSR and DLSS. To get an image that's higher quality than native say 1080p, closer to 4k and with the performance of around 1440p.

    So yes :D

I just let GFE optimize those things nowadays, and its fine.

    GFE is a bloatware.

Except you use it for what little it does for people.

How big is the performance hit from GFE in games and other everyday tasks?

@Trunks0 Nice writeup! Don't forget that edge case for RTX 20/30 series owners where they can combine DLDSR+DLSS to fit in those areas where you have some overhead in DLSS quality mode, but can't hit the framerates you want at native resolution. Basically just using DLDSR resolutions with one of the 3 DLSS settings to fine tune your performance and quality. :)

I've had really good results doing this with Mechwarrior 5 and Outriders so far, hitting the exact FPS range I'm looking for while getting the highest possible image quality.

    THIS!

@Trunks0 hits the nail on the head and I agree with @BuildeR2 also.

Thanks to other Gurus in the God Of War thread I've been able to play the game in a upscaled 6k resolution with DLSS along with Flawless Widescreen. It looks absolutely breathtaking. Far better than native 4k. If we tweak the right DSR with DLSS it will give us fantastic results in multiple games. Sword and Fairy 7 uses alot of Raytracing effects and can cripple the strongest of PC's at 4k resolution. With DSR combined with DLSS we can create an awesome image with all of the Raytracing goodness while displaying crisp details. FSR 2.0 is making strong headlines and will be nice to use as well.

I find it AMAZING that we have tools to improve image quality and performance at the same time.

Great question and great answers Gurus.
