Maybe you can help with the following issue.

Using mpchc can play movies (any resolution) without any problems, if the connection between the pc and tv is via hdmi and between the pc and monitor is also hdmi.
Short version: using two hdmi connections without any problems.

If the monitor is connected via display port (pc to monitor), than something strange happens.
While watching a movie, if I power on the monitor, the player jumps from the tv to the monitor (this happens if a display port connection/cable is used).

The setup is: extended desktop, the monitor being the primary (nvidia control panel).
Nowadays most gpus doesn't come with two hdmi connectors, which seem to be the only solution so far.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

I get a similar issue using a TV and PC monitor. Monitor as main display, TV as extended display.
Before watching movies I switch displays entirely so the TV only is being used.

Reason being:
if I start playing the movie "full screen" on the TV while the monitor is on as primary display, then turn the monitor off, it will take a while before things settle and playback continues ok on the TV.
But if I then make the movie none full screen (ie to use the PC for a moment), making it full screen again sends the video to a position that isnt in view. The only fix is to turn the monitor on as the primary display again and re-open the movie so it appears on the TV again.
I can then close it and regain control of where it opens next if using a single display.

Short version, for a simple life:
If you use one screen, dont turn on/off another screen while the movie is playing.
If you use 2 displays while playing a film, leave them both on all of the time.
Anything else can mess you around.

Yes, you are right. Thanks for the tips.
Still cannot figure out if the operating system or the nvidia driver is causing the problem.
If the gpu has two hdmi outputs, using those two everything works fine.
Would be nice to find a fix for this if possible.

 

Found a solution, if someone has the same issue of wanting/using two displays while watching a movie with HDR, here is the description of a setting that solved the above issue.
Go to:
madVR - rendering - general settings - enable automatic fullscreen exclusive mode (enabled/disabled)

no need, theres an open bug and i've already contributed screenshots of it, i'm still using 1.9.18 myself but the issue was brought to my attention by a friend on 1.9.20

its the worst on 4:3 remasters of old anime.

• Updated MediaInfo DLL to version 22.06

Changes/additions/improvements:

• Added support for rendering subtitles on DX11 surface. This is utilized by MPC Video Renderer (version 0.6.0 and above) in DX11 mode.
• Added option to automatically save a downloaded subtitle file. When enabled it saves the active subtitle when closing the video file.
• Added advanced option to specify preferred audio format (AAC/Opus) when streaming from Youtube.
• The command line parameter /play without further parameters will now resume last opened file.
• The command line parameter /pns now also supports explicit position and zoom values.
• Added support for rendering WebP image with internal filters.
• Added advanced option to specify image display duration. This setting is only supported by "Generate Still Video" and "MPC Image Source" filters. Generate Still Video seems to use a minimum of 10 seconds, so be aware of that. Image formats rendered by the internal LAV Filters will now have infinite duration (at 1 fps) so they are no longer quickly skipped over in a playlist. Custom duration is not supported by that filter.

  When using dark theme it is also possible to change the height of the seekbar and size of the toolbar buttons.

• Video preview on the seekbar
  Options > Tweaks > Show preview on seek bar
• Adjust playback speed
  Menu > Play > Playback rate
  The buttons in the player that control playback rate take a 2x step by default. This can be customized to smaller values (like 10%):
  Options > Playback > Speed step
  Adjusting playback speed works best with the internal audio renderer. This also has automatic pitch correction.
  Options > Playback > Output > Audio Renderer
• MPC-HC can remember playback position, so you can resume from that point later
  Options > Player > History
• You can quickly seek through a video with Ctrl + Mouse Scrollwheel.
• You can jump to next/previous file in a folder by pressing PageUp/PageDown.
• You can perform automatic actions at end of file. For example to go to next file or close player.
  Options > Playback > After Playback (permanent setting)
  Menu > Play > After Playback (for current file only)
• A-B repeat
  You can loop a segment of a video. Press [ and ] to set start and stop markers.
• You can rotate/flip/mirror/stretch/zoom the video
  Menu > View > Pan&Scan
  This is also easily done with hotkeys (see below).
• There are lots of keyboard hotkeys and mouse actions to control the player. They can be customized as well.
  Options > Player > Keys
  Tip: there is a search box above the table.
• You can stream videos directly from Youtube and many other video websites
  Put yt-dlp.exe or youtube-dl.exe in the MPC-HC installation folder.
  Then you can open website URLs in the player: Menu > File > Open File/URL
  You can even download those videos: Menu > File > Save a copy
  Tip: to be able to download in best quality with yt-dlp/youtube-dl, it is recommended to also put ffmpeg.exe in the MPC-HC folder.
  Several YDL configuration options are found here: Options > Advanced
  This includes an option to specify the location of the .exe in case you don't want to put it in MPC-HC folder.
• Play HDR video
  This requires using madVR or MPC Video Renderer.
  After installation these renderers can be selected here:
  Options > Playback > Output
• Ability to search for and download subtitles, either automatically or manually (press D):
  Options > Subtitles > Misc
• Besides all these (new) features, there have also been many bugfixes and internal improvements in the player in the past years that give better performance and stability. It also has updated internal codecs. Support was added for CUE sheets, WebVTT subtitles, etc.

Hello guys.
I am using Media Player Classic Home Cinema 1.9.22 with unactivated windows 11.
But my video crashes after awhile but the audio keeps running . If i close it and start again, it runs fine but again for awhile.
I am using default settings .
Video Format is x265
