Price of first Alienware QD-OLED monitor may surprise you

Alienware was the first company to introduce a QD-OLED gaming monitor, and now we know its price.
As announced by Dell, the Alienware 34 Curved QD-OLED Gaming Monitor, AW3423DW, will cost $1,300 in the U.S. and $1,650 in Canada.

Dell says the monitor will be available in early Spring, meaning it’ll be among the very first QD-OLED displays available to purchase.



The availability announcement of the AW3423DW is the first pricing information to be revealed on any QD-OLED display, including televisions.
The QD-OLED panel technology comes courtesy of Samsung, which has yet to unveil any pricing information on its own QD-OLED TVs.

The price of Alienware’s monitor may suggest that QD-OLED will be cheaper than traditional OLED.
$1,300, while a lot of money for a monitor, is significantly cheaper than previous attempts at OLED gaming monitors.

QD-OLED, or Quantum Dot OLED, is Samsung’s attempt at merging the expanded colors and brightness of Quantum Dot tech with the absolute blacks of OLED.
The result, in theory, is the best of both worlds. Considering even OLED is still incredibly rare for gaming monitors, Alienware’s QD-OLED display should be a major step forward for image quality.

Dell says the Quantum Dot pixel layer brings “higher color uniformity, wider color coverage, and increased brightness.” The specific claim is 1,000 nits of peak brightness and 250 nits of typical brightness.
As I said in my initial time with the display, the screen appeared every bit as vibrant as OLED to my naked eye.

Other important features of the QD-OLED monitor are its 3440 x 1440 resolution, 1800R curve, and 175Hz refresh rate.
The monitor also supports DisplayHDR 400 True Black and G-Sync Ultimate.

Alienware’s monitor is the first QD-OLED monitor to be announced, so we’ll have to wait to hear if Samsung,
ROG, or others will invest in the next-gen technology with releases of their own.

Blade Runner 2099: Ridley Scott to bring sequel TV series to Amazon
Ridley Scott is set to team with Amazon to create a new live-action sequel series to Blade Runner.

Blade Runner 2099 will follow on from Denis Villeneuve’s 2017 sequel Blade Runner 2049 to further expand the world originally created by Philip K Dick in his 1968 novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep
Scott directed the much-loved 1982 adaptation Blade Runner and is set to executive-produce the new series with the potential for him to also direct. In November, Scott confirmed that the show was in development and a pilot had been written.

The series was reportedly brought to market last fall with Amazon pouncing and developing it further as a priority. It will mark the second Blade Runner television show after last year’s anime series Blade Runner: Black Lotus which is set in 2032.
Reviews have been mixed, with the AV Club’s Sam Barsanti writing that “there isn’t really a compelling hook here aside from the Blade Runner bit in the title”.

 

That's certainly less than I expected!

I'll likely wait on Samsungs version though, as that's likely to ditch G-Sync.

Leonardo Interactive and Invader Studios have announced that a free demo for Daymare 1994 Sandcastle will release on February 21st.
In order to celebrate this announcement, the teams released a brand new gameplay trailer that you can find below.

Set before the events of the critically acclaimed Daymare: 1998, the game follows special agent Dalila Reyes, a former government spy now in service of H.A.D.E.S. (Hexacore Advanced Division for Extraction and Search),
as she explores the ominous, labyrinthine depths of the most advanced experimental research center in the United States of America.

The Steam demo will immerse you in the game’s survival horror environments. Players will discover the beginning of this terrifying journey and the mysterious connections that ties this prequel to Daymare: 1998.
Players will also explore some of Daymare’s most iconic and captivating locations as they reveal the horror hidden in the most secretive military research center in the USA.

Lastly, we should note that this is a limited-time demo. According to the teams, the demo will be available between February 21st and February 28th.

 

BioShock Isolation

In November 2021, Oops Leaks leaked the logo, a presentation and the working of title of BioShock 4.
And a couple of days ago, the leaked claimed that 2K Games is restructuring the studio that’s been working on it.

New Bioshock have development issues. The company lost about 40 employees, including leads.
According to my info, 2K is not satisfied with the project’s results and pace.
However, judging by T2’s recent financial report, the game is still planed to be released by the end of 2024.

Instead, 2K Games is simply not happy with the project’s results and pace.

Take-Two plans to release this game by the end of 2024. As such, and due to these studio issues, the game may get delayed (even though it has not been officially announced yet).

As Oops Leaks leaked previously, BioShock Isolation will be using Unreal Engine 5. 2K Games was planning to officially reveal it in Q1 2022.
However, and due to these issues, the game’s official announcement may also get delayed.
