NVIDIA GeForce 497.29 WHQL driver download & Discussion

A friend of mine had the same, told him to go back to the 472's and he's had no issues since

 

these drivers for me have the same issue as previous and ones before that , where by all my screens will ramdomly turn off and on and off and on its like the graphics card does not no what resolution its ment to be in after doing that it will fix its self lol
and also another issue after waking from sleep or randomly not sure what causes this but all my videos that i play will be COMPLETELY green green screen, and to fix that i have to change monitor resolution then go back to default resolution and it fixes it

2 bizarre problems that i have no idea what is causing them other than drivers.

Where is the old sharpening option in the Nvidia CP, where you could apply it per game?

 

Hidden behind weirdness, enable integer GPU scaling.

 

Laptop still restarts when closing the lid and opening the lid. Been broken since 497.49

 

Sounds like I'm reverting back to driver 466 for my mgpu setup lol

 

Ive been having the same issue for the last 3-4 drivers atleast. I would say tho its like the driver reloads/crashes or something rather than the screen turn on and off.

I have an 3080.

 

Weird, Resizable BAR is disabled with this on my W11.
Got CSM disabled, UEFI enabled, everyt volume GPT, Above 4G Decoding and Resize BAR Support enabled in BIOS, everything up to date, did reinstall the full driver package as well to confirm.
This has been working, not quite sure why it is disabled all of the sudden, might need to check with older Nvidia drivers.

 

Me too back to 471.12.

I used this newest 497.29 and it just wasnt super smooth like older, 497.09 was better, but still not it like older.. speaking only of Destiny2, now with 30th anv pack they updated gfx engine a bit as well and this newest driver somehow doesnt cope well with it.

 

yes,you are not obliged to do anything for us,nobody has to to present 100% checked and verified results here.but it helps when we read things people say.
otherwise we would learn nothing ever.

should this be done before every driver install or just for troubleshooting

btw does ddu always clear the shader cache ? im wondering why people keep complaining about stutter or performance when installing new drivers.Maybe that's somehow related.
i've updated drivers about a hundred times and only twice 7 years since I've had geforce gpus I had a bad driver,once in the early pascal time,once when I had a 1070 last/this year.Both dpc spikes related.both resulted in short freezes every 4-5 seconds.

 

When I moved to windows server DC 2022 from server 19 DC, it happened to me as well. I'm not sure what specifically fixed it, but I did re-flash the cards, and did change to a prior driver and back and forth. Somewhere in there it came back as yes on resizable bar. The other time it happened (on wife PC), I had a "full global profile and hidden settings" save from inspector and imported that as well and seemed to solve it. Seems you bios is set up correctly, so its not that.

 

that is stability related too
im running ultra preset (max slider) and I've had a few early ctd's on uv+oc settings that work in other games.
but with an updated mv/mhz curve it's been 17 crashless hours so far.

 

Every time they ask me to install telemetry apps that i hate, and i have no issue but i can notice that performance is getting down with every release, ventury posted some benches:

not hard to understand that, but no one wants to believe, after playing halo i noticed that 497.09 is more smoother and solid/stable than 497.29, also in time spy and novabench scores getting down with 497.29, and i got some crashes to desktop with forza horizon 5, weird desktop glitches, with 497.09 all ok

That person has a perpetual problem machine due to how esoteric their gear is.

 

Hes problem resolved when reverting to 472.47, but the fact that performance decreasing is not related, its going down from 461.72 and even before
.

 

If you go too far back, you lose the Latency Fixes

 

your laptop has certified drivers, use em.

 

I have a 3060 and no experience with other NV GPUs or graphics drivers. With these drivers, the few games I tried seem to work fine.

I notice that when I wake my display, it’ll wake up, go black for about half a second, and then come back. My display also throws a HDR logo on the screen briefly which implies there’s some kind of reinitializing going on during that screen blank. Is this expected?

When I had my RX 580, that display wake thing didn’t happen (screen would wake and be ready to go and no HDR logo flash). When Windows first starts, I’d get the same HDR logo flash presumably when the display driver initialized, but never again after that.

 

I once rubbed dog crap on my elbows and my headache went away. Coincidence?
