I suppose slower GDDR6 is so much more abundant and cheaper that Nvidia didn't choose to compensate for the narrower bus width by using faster memory. After all, this whole card is kind of a band-aid solution to the current crisis in the graphics card market, so it doesn't really matter. After all, under normal circumstances Nvidia wouldn't even release something like this.

My understanding is it's using the PCB of the 3060 which is why it's 192bit bus apparently they are pin compaible.

it's because they don't even have to try to compete with the rx6600,they can do that with an old gen card.their old gen card has the same non-rt performance and packs more features than amd's newest one.

So they re-relase 1080 ? Wonder about the price . And why 12 gb ? What point it has at this performance bracket , they could go with 6gb...

    That would be RTX 2060.

Rumours say Nvidia is planning to release RTX 3050, but since that's only in the future, I guess 2060 Super re-release will do for the time being.

Btw, you should have chosen a 1080p graph. As you can see, one shouldn't buy this card for 1440p.

to me this shows both arrogance and incompetence. incompetence because these are leftover gpu's that couldn't be sold even in a supply-chain crisis. there is just no way a new fab run has been done on (just) the 2060, these are either unsold or returned gpu's on a new pcb with more memory (in itself a good thing).
which gets to the unsatisfactory nature of the 2060... way to have another bite of the apple.

all of which is arrogant. they would've been far better served refreshing 2070 or 2080 - but wait - those sold out.
yesterday's garbage at today's far fetched prices, thanks Nvidia.

i ran a 1070 at 1440p and locked 45-50 in most triple a titles, a 2060s should have no problem.

Most people I know would call that unplayable fps. Then, some people can play at 20~30fps and wonder why would you need more...

that is why I said that 2060S should have no problem.if 1070 can do 45-50,a 1080 would be near 60 and 2060S well above.
sorry, but 1080p looks like crap to me,it always did even back in 2012 when I built my first rig on 7870GHz.I can't go below 45,but give me a steady 50fps at 1440p and I'm good for playing on a controller.

I think they use older node ,that doesn't collide with new.

There is market for it so they want to cash in on that. Players will buy it as it was fresh warm bun.

That graph you posted has 2060S at 42 fps.

I always thought PC gamers aimed for 60 fps minimum. In the end, I shouldn't go assuming things. Different people have different priorities.

Reduce settings from Ultra down to High, plus DLSS which is common for new AAA games and 60FPS is quite attainable for 2060S.

1440p High + DLSS Quality is gonna look way better than 1080p Ultra

Actually, 1080 is often faster than 2060S, even 1070Ti is. 2060S is junk.
    edit: (no DLSS of course)

    yes, this is older node.
but it is also older itself. they stopped making these a long time (around three years) ago.

yes, people will buy this like fresh warm buns.
but this would be old and stale if it wasn't for the new pcb with a wider bus and more memory.
depending on interpretations of U.S. and California tax codes (if written off for loss) this alone will raise eyebrows at the State Board of Equalization but idk if anyone is "home" at the IRS.

    they're way behind

2060S is getting close to 60fps in worst case scenarios, where 1070/1080 are dropping to 40fps.And has dlss. It's not a great card for 1440p,but it'll do +60 most of the time.
