Review: Asus ROG Swift PG32UQX monitor (mini LEDs with 1152 zones)

Discussion in 'Frontpage news' started by Hilbert Hagedoorn, Sep 3, 2021.

  1. Good review. The price, however, is completely unjustified. If I decided to go for a gaming mini-LED monitor, I'd choose the Samsung G9 Neo, which is also significantly cheaper, with higher static contrast ratio and with less blooming on gray backgrounds.

With that said, there is currently no mini-LED monitor, which would tick all the boxes for me. Even if I won't consider the price, this one is simply not good enough.

I know it's nice and everything, but seriously, for that price I'd definitely get an OLED TV. At this price honestly they should have just charged an even $5000 because it's not like it matters to anyone buying it.

Looks like everyone out there is trying to make bank on all these average monitors before they become utterly irrelevant.

$3500 for a 32" LCD, just lol, go get out of here.

Nice, but really €3500 ?! You can get an ASUS ROG SWIFT PG43UQ for less than €1500.

Why would you care when it does DP1.4 with DSC? This isn't a screen for consoles.

I have 27" IPS monitor with ~1400 contrast ratio, 99% adobe rgb no halos, has freesync and g-sync. It cost me ~$300.
So this monitor is worse and costs 3000 dollars more? No thanks

    edit: 144Hz, no fan.

Uhm that must be wrong. The review says this has a contrast ratio of 1400 with 1000+ FALD dimming zones yet a PQ43UQ which is edge lit has a contrast ratio of 1900??

Doesn't seem to equate with "Overall, this is a wonderful monitor, with vibrant colors and deep, dark blacks flowing from the screen's surface"

    price tho...( pre orders for $4000 ... :/ )

Not wrong. AOC 27G2U, you also have MSI with same panel and one ASUS with slightly lower contrast ratio (~1300). Picture is vibrant and blacks are deep (0.11~0.12) on all of them, no glow, save for IPS black glow.

FALD in the case of mini leds and the reviewed monitor only causes problems (maybe those are not problems for some people, glowing white edges and mouse pointer are a huge problem for me at ~3500$ ).

My bad for 32". As for Gigabyte, I don't spend anything Gigabyte. They will be the last ones to release the monitor based on newest panels produced by LG.

I still don't get how it can do 1400 Nits, yet only have a ratio of 1400 to 1? And with FALD

My QLED with FALD does 0 Nits on most of the screen with 10% White at circa 2000 Nits in the middle, and the measured values are

    Native Contrast

    3,510 : 1

    Contrast with local dimming

    26,534 : 1

Not nits, contrast ratio is 1400:1. Nits ~350, or 120 after calibration for photosensitive work.
Also: this is the crucial part that show the quality of this monitor here:
