So basically ,a gaming GPU, is now a thing for the wealthy.

Basically everything other than being a slave for the neo-landlords so they can go to space is forbidden for the common folks, let alone think about something so mundane like having any sort of entertainment.
We truly live in a dystopian nightmare where you just live to work and die like any other chicken in a chick farm.

Isn't Nvidia going to switch to a different workflow next year? After all, it was Samsung with its 8nm chips at the start that could not saturate the market with video cards in the required volume.o_O

The rumors that have been posted so far are that Nvidia will use TSMC's 5nm for RTX4000 series Lovelace.
I'd say the same applies for AMD and it's 7000 series cards.

Honestly, if this just keeps going up, i might just swap to console gaming full time. the price difference was already high and if its going up again and again the 5080 might be 2 grand MSRP

    Gamers, bend over, please.

Don't worry, it only hurts the first times...

Xbox S is the deal of the decade, 300€ for a good 1080p gaming device.
If you can live without the benefits of gaming on a computer that is.
I personally don't like most console games, only enjoy playing racing and adventure.
I have a PS2 with NFS and Prince of Persia, loved those games for the time my PC was broken.

No it's not. Xbox Series X, plays at ultra 4K 120fps. Xbox Series S plays 1440p 60fps/1080p 120fps medium. Difference is huge. It's the fail of the decade.

True, but if we all start selling our kidneys the kidney market will collapse and we'll be back to square one.

Hell no. I'd rather game on older PC hardware with older games then touch a console.
Just too much freedom to do what ever.

I had a blast with FC3 on my gt 1030 @1080p, so many great older games! I totally agree @Agonist.

I wonder how much a "slightly used" kidney would go for on eBay?

by "slightly used" I mean....no warranties, returns not accepted...:D

what older hardware can you buy for 300eur ?
    not even a used 1070 alone.for a whole system ?
    maybe a 4/4 i5 with a gcn card like 280 that's limited by 3g vram and in legacy status already,120g ssd.That's it.

    yup.
and xbox is adding plenty of older titles with 60/120 support

as much as I'm inclined towards gaming on pc, series S and series X are absolutely crushing it.it's not just the hardware,it's the support and the game pass.I wouldn't miss my pc for sure if I got one with the pass.

First, a gaming PC and any component needed for it is always a luxury item. It's not needed to keep you from being hungry, thirsty, sheltered from the weather or healthy. If it gets more expensive, don't buy it, spend your money on another hobby. I myself do see it as a hobby too, and my price limits have been reached. Makes me not buy a luxury item like a new GPU / PC. Pretty simple.

Second, no increase in pricing named or numbered. Until we know anything, it's just... complaining that today it's raining compared to yesterday. Old men's talk tbh.
Or are we generally complaining about increasing prices?

Third, the increase in price per GPU in absolute numbers is to be considered. A chip costs something in the few hundred dollars, a fraction of what the whole GPU costs. So we're in for 20, or 50$ more per chip? Manufacturers have increased prices like this over generations anyway, with bigger jumps recently (even more expensive node jumps). Less than 100$ more per GPU then, is that sensible? So be it, if they can even fabricate enough chips to cope with demand.

Honestly, this is much ado about nothing. First we should worry about ever again reaching MSRP prices, before MSPR price increases are to be considered.
