This is their shameless Civilization clone. It is indeed another Civilization, and apparently the game they always wanted to make while making endless. As a huge fan of Civ since 1994, I am eagerly anticipating this game. No one has every really tried to do a flat out copy of Civilization (but better). Not with this kind of money thrown into it.
Civ 6 is the most recent. And many fans would say the series has made some questionable decisions with regards to game-play since Civ 4. It could use some competition.
I picked up Endless Legend for cheap last Christmas. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was much better than Civ 6 (at launch anyway). I will be watching Humankind closely once it is out and reviews start coming in.

This "clone" could be interesting if it brings new ideas to the table... As for Civ6, the things i hate the most are the instant builds from workers and the roads being made automaticaly by trade routes... And the AI of course.
You can play Endless Legend to get a feel about Humankind. It's made by the same developers and many ideias mechanics seem to be similar. BTW, several ideias that are used in Civ VI were "inspired" by Endless Legend. Amplitude Studios is copying some of Firaxis ideias, and vice versa.

It was previously scheduled to release in April. Based on feedback from closed beta players, the new release date is August 17. The following message was posted by Amplitude Studios developer Spacetroll in the official forums: As part of their “OpenDev” development process, Amplitude has offered closed beta testing periods for players beginning late last year. Amplitude listed the features and aspects of Humankind they hope to polish and improve in the coming months. The biggest area in need of improvement is overall pacing and balance, as games were progressing too quickly, with too many available resources. Amplitude also hopes to improve diplomacy, the user interface, and onboarding with in-game video tutorials. The feedback is based on over 26,000 games being played during the OpenDev testing windows. Almost sounds like olden times. When "day 1 patch" wasn't even possible, let alone becoming commonplace.
Denuvo brought performance issues in Humankind so the developers will launch the game without it Fortunately for gamers, these guys at Sega and Amplitude, are not like those at Capcom.
that is pretty great to read TBH. let's hope this game gets bought enough , to show pc gamer appreciation.
