thats a good question, i'm only speaking of how windows handles updating for root devices with an inuse or system locked device attached.
You should be prompted for a restart because the System device is not unmountable which completely blocks the root device from finishing its update.

Unless the devices aren't unmounting at all, but the state change for loading the new pcie driver temporarily blocks all IO.

Can you record a video with device manager open and the disk drives expanded and reproduce it?

ok, those are not necessarily indicating the disk has unmounted, windows storage will timeout long requests and throw that warning if a long running interrupt or a root port is hogging all the interrupt time, though if it did go for too long it'd bsod the pc too.

As soon you install the new AMD drivers clean, it will disconnect any devices. Then the monitor goes black for some seconds, you hear a BEEP, it will come back again and thats totally normal. Because it installs a driver called PCI-BUS. Totally normal!

    Astyanax wrote it correctly.
C: will not get affected. So do not worry its normal.
Not even on SMART status u see any fail on the devices.

Perhaps i should have been clearer in saying, put a pagefile on each of the non boot nvme's (a tiny one even) xD

that will keep the drives mounted by preventing the root port from being updated.

I cant understand why he worries about his precious SSD's, i checked it out, not even on SMART u see any fails after he got this reaction from his PC. Its normal! He doesnt think it is normal so what can we do?! Maybe an employee from AMD itself has to convince him....

Is it just me or does it sound like the OP is doing who the hell knows what while installing drivers? If that is the case OP do yourself a favor, make all programs but the installer are closed and then take your hands off the keyboard and mouse and sit on them until the install is finished.

Dont be hard, maybe we were too hard with him. But the reaction of the installer was normal. He should not worry bout it.

Its not normal! Other user with the same Board and a AMD 6000 Card dont have the issues. I am not a beginner as some here believe but know my way around quite well. Some of the comments here are therefore inappropriate.

Sometimes it would be better for you to be quiet and not write anything.

Sorry man. But it IS totally normal. Sorry but isso. :D
Anyways. We wont come to an end LOL.
PS dont send your "defect" hardware back. Thanks.
How often i mentioned to YOU, that it installs a thing called PCI BUS?! Now seriously, cant you read what i wrote the whole time?!
I only see, that you wanna piss at AMD for things, their drivers do. I see you want to send non defect hardware back. But i must write. Hardware costs a lot these Corona Days. Thats all you are about, dude. I know your brain.
