Well I'm out, what a horrible operating system.... at least now I know first hand how bad the design of it is.
I install Windows 11 from Windows Update, now i can't go back to Windows 10 due to Auto HDR and UI smoothness @ 120hz, feel like Mac OS speed.
Settings/Windows Update/Windows Insider Program/Dev Channel Also using 21.6.1 driver from AMD not the beta driver from Windows Update.
Quite impressed how nippy it feels on my rig so far tried one game no issues seems a little faster loading.
I can understand putting W11 beta on a spare pc, or a VM but nobody would actually replace their existing Windows OS with a beta. Would they ? Regardless of my concerns about how TPM could be used against us, and the obvious privacy issues of participating in an OS beta, the release notes accompanying the beta tell me that W11 is a long way from ready.
I have to say I like it. Only really use my computer for gaming and internet so I can only comment on that. Still getting used to where everything. Wont be going back to Windows 10
For me it felt more like having a mental breakdown while being lost in a supermarket looking for the things you want but the plot twist is the things you want don't exist.
I quite like it. Interface and sounds are pretty nice. Change needs getting used to. I will keep the taskbar buttons in the middle I hope they fix the start menu pinning not working next.
My experience of the last 2 hours :/ Yes its smooth and yes it is shiny but microshite please give me my programs back specifically taskbar small icons and ability to disable system icons but the settings .. oh man horrible phone settings
@Passus for the small taskbar icons https://www.lifewire.com/change-taskbar-size-in-windows-11-5190012 That what I found so far.
Can anyone for the love of god help me. I have tpm 2.0 enabled. secure boot is also enabled in my asus BIOS. I cannot understand why the windows pc health app is telling me I need secure boot enabled!?!?!? That is the only thing preventing me .
Thanks Buddy! The guide I first tried didnt mention the 0 setting and said only 1,2,3 still want the old taskbar customisation capability though
Yes all is enabled and TPM is showing as 2.0 enabled in windows. However secure boot is saying not supported.
So far, seems quite nice, the settings menu finally does feel like a replacement for the control panel and everything feels very responsive. I'm not happy about taskbar items being automatically grouped into icons only, I would prefer to have the older method of keeping titles next to the icons and only combining when the taskbar is full, why is it necessary to have an additional step to switch between programs/windows via the taskbar?
