Note: Vega users needs to enable HBCC (HBM Cache w/ Setting to min. 12GB;))
Then Game performance is a lot better....

A couple of days ago I switched from 2700x+Prime X470-Pro+16GB Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3200 (tuned timings)+1TB Adata SX8200 Pro to 5600x+Prime B550-Plus+16GB Crucial Ballistix RGB 3600@3866 15-17-18-13-35 1T GDM off and tuned subtimings+1TB Western Digital SN850 (sold the old parts to a customer for a good price for both, 450€, since everything was in excellent conditions). In total I spent only 330€.
Holy smokes, the smoothness…. Unbelievable how much of a bottleneck was my 2700x in some games (GTA V, which runs like sh*t in many parts with Vega GPUs, gained at least 30-40% min FPS), in all games I tried ZERO weird random stutters which sometimes happened with the old Ryzen… damn, I thought I was “sidegrading” (except for HALF the power consumption of the CPU), but I wasn’t expecting that big of a difference. Guys, I suggest you to upgrade to a very high IPC CPU with tuned RAMs, as smooth as a baby’s bottom:D:D:D. And I didn’t even do a clean install of W10…

I dont believe its such a big of a difference, maybe if you play 5 year old games like gta that can barely use 4threads and stuck at 1080p.
1440p and a some newer proper multithreaded games and difference diminishes.

5800x would be a better option but at this point i'll be better waiting waiting for ddr5/am5 then overpaying these zen3 cpus.

    It can be ;)
    I was also amazed when upgraded to 3700X (4150MHz|3800 CL16 1T 32GB 4x8)
    1700X have "only" ~4GHz at 3466MHz CL15 (most of the time 3.9GHz)

The difference is here for sure.
    Note:
    My 3700X can do ~4.5GHz w/PBO and EDC Tweak at 1, if/when i upgrade monitor to 1440p 144Hz & 3080 or 4080 or ATI 7xxx then it will be a must for me, now all i need is 4.15 or 4.2GHz :p

The only post-GTA V game I have in my PC currently is cod warzone, where I gained a lot of min FPS, from 90-100 with low peaks of 70-80 to 120 with low peaks of 95 (but runs pretty badly on everything and looks terrible even at ultra). I tried FH4 steam (I had already finished the win store version), but I was and am strictly GPU limited, only the CPU FPS changed between the two platforms.

More vBIOSes that i can confirm flash & work on a reference Vega 56. Currently using this one (it says .111 not .101 in a text editor) Air Boost 64 200w version..
It will boost P7 clock set to 1663mhz. Add 10% power limit and you have exactly the same performance as the Vega 64 220w, with the niceties of updated GOP, updated vBIOS, maybe fix some bugs. Just a nice overall vBIOS to put onto an older card. However make sure you do this one on Vega 64 because they're more likely to be stable.
UPDATE 03-06-2021: Due to the HBM states voltages being lower on these new BIOSes. it also does mention itself as Vega XLHB; so it may not be stable on Vega XL (aka Vega 56) itself. So unless you want to try, i'd recommend either the original link - the 180503, which isn't XLHB, so that one, not 190616 - or not to at all. The reference cards are known to have VRM different from an AIB, as in the aftermarket cards filter power better, but the reference has power spikes so unless you are sure you have a PSU and card capable of this new vBIOS, don't do it. Had to go back to a .8730 Vega 64 8176MB vBIOS to remain stable. At least the XL bios worked for a bit, the XLHB would just randomly black screen my system, GPU shutting off, but sound and CPU still working; This is just a PSA, but i am here to help, not to recommend bad ideas.

If anyone wants a updated Vega 56 bios , no moddings, or clock/TDP boosts, just the latest version, here it is, this works perfectly fine on Sapphire Vega 56 reference blower* ( https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/205311/asrock-rxvega56-8192-180503
EDIT: newer one https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/215816/asrock-rxvega56-8192-190616) It has the same specs as the 165w Vega 56, but updated GOP etc, maybe fixed bugs as the version is like higher number than even other AIB models vBIOS.
*maybe not ideal for a release year (2017) Vega 56, which works better with old BIOS.

    Tested with 21.5.2* (and 21.4.1) and 20h2 (now 21H1) W10 working :)

Vega 64 BIOS on Vega 56's still works, it's Vega 64 liquid bios that doesn't work on Vega 56 anymore (that doesn't work; card boots, but doesn't allow driver* in windows and shortly after half a minute will black screen with high RPM) (something to do with Vega security features).

UPDATE: This seems to be with Vega 64 reference cards too; recent drivers block the card from either recognizing, or give an error code. I can confirm it's a driver lockout, as just for fun some time ago i tried a old vBIOS for a reference Powercolor Vega 64 with 165w which was an RMA vBIOS, and the driver wouldn't detect it, no error code, just 'Basic Display Adapter' and when i tried Radeon installation, it said the hardware is not compatible with Radeon software. So this may be the same situation of a software block, implemented by AMD.

If you can use the V64 bios the MSI air 64 is the best, as for any LQ bios dont use them unless you have a v64 XTX.

I’m going to try it with my reference Vega 64 (Sapphire)+full cover waterblock, I don’t expect that much of a difference, but it’s newer. And, if everything goes bad, I still have the second BIOS.
BTW, can I switch to the primary VBIOS and flash it while I started the PC with the secondary one?

Temps are fine, no suspicious things, so yeah :p
Im using also -0.00375 OFFset to mitigate those 1.48 voltages.
If too low then You've got better ALL OC if higher, then You'll get better S.Core OC on my setup at ~4.488GHz
It's plenty fast, combine this with my 4x8GB 3800MHz CL16 1T w/1900 IF and im in Heaven :D

    Got it!
What EDC Value do you recommend to a bad silicon R5 3600?

Bang4thebuckgamer on YT also said 6900XT performs better than the 3090 and have less stuttering in UE5 demo.
I see console and pc developers working closely with amd on this one and it shows already.

‘Bout damn time that an Unreal Engine runs good with AMD cards.
EDIT: There are some very rare exceptions, like Borderlands 3, though.

Do not push to Badass ;)
Mix - Ultra/Badass + some things on Medium (can't see the difference).
Try to search my thread for Tweaks :p
Im Happy with BL3 on my Vega, game looks good & working NP at 65-70FPS w/Freesync.
    Smooth and fast.

I have HUB Quality but with Med. Draw & Shadows on High :D
