  1. It could have been better. If they added more types of craftable traps, proximity explosives and other more mature ways to deal with the hordes, it would be great. But still, it's completely different game. Very hard to compare to HZD.

    I love the lighting in this game. I would prefer however a more vibrant colour pallet, that annoying fog is horrible, makes the game dull.

    You can try to edit the engine.ini

    It's in: %LOCALAPPDATA%\BendGame\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor\

    Then add this line:

    [SystemSettings]
    r.FogDensity=0

    Values between 0 and 1
    0 is off, 1 is a lot of fog.

    You can also disable depth of field:

    r.DepthOfFieldQuality=0

    Did it work out well?
    I don't have the game yet, so I can't try it.

    Volumetric fog looks all right to me. It's only present when it's needed like early morning and raining.

    The thing is my feelings often have conflicting interests with my wallet :)

    Oh what the hell, haven't played a zombie game since Dying Light anyway.
    Plus I need new games to test the GPU!

    I guess all UE4 config tweaks will work with this game too.
    I always disable CA, film grain, vignetting if enabled as they often are.

    I explained myself wrong. The volumetric fog itself is great, but the image seems like another victim of the vaseline effect.
    It creates a foggy effect, i think it might be TAA

    Probably TAA, counter blurriness with some sharpening.

    To be honest TAA or temporal reconstuction have become so commonplace that I'm getting used to a slightly blurry image.
    Well implemented TAA can create a very natural looking and clean image, clean meaning no shimmering or artifacts visible.

    Sure if I play something like Half Life 2 the image looks extra crisp but that comes with its own caveats.

    Game looks much better with some sharpening. If you have amd card use ris around 20%.

    On the topic having switched recently to an AMD GPU from NV, I really like Radeon Image Sharpening.

    It effectively removes blurriness without immediately creating an obviously artificially sharpened look.
    Added a bit of RIS to Control while upscaling from 768p and made a nice difference.

    (Upscaling from 768p to have higher performance with RT).

    Would have been interested in the game if not for the hordes of AI-less zombies. The zombie formula has been overdone to the hilt. How about some originality for a change?

    Ris really bring out the details its better than nvidia sharpening or reshade. Using it in all my games since it supports now all apis.

    Days gone really benefit from it i think.

    You actually can use RIS with ReShade, it's called AMD FidelityFX CAS.

    I picked this up after watching Digital Foundry's review. It does work very well with PC as they've stated. I will have to admit the zombie thing has ran its course with me. Tech wise it looks good and runs good for the most part. Tons of optimizations.

    Does anyone else notice a little stutter when playing Days Gone? I also see this with Forza Horizon 4. My other titles are running very smooth.

    On UE4 games, we can improve TAA quality, by also editing the engine.ini

    [SystemSettings]
    r.PostProcessAAQuality=6
    r.TemporalAACurrentFrameWeight=0.3
    r.TemporalAASamples=32

    r.TemporalAASamples can cause problems with games using DLSS. Use only 16 samples and DLSS quality.

    To add some sharpenning, you can use this setting, but CAS looks better.

    r.TemporalAASharpness=1

    the controls using a controller is really finicky, quite an effort.
